The Vagamon Residency will open its doors in 2020 The Kerala Literature Festival is very proud to announce the Vagamon Residency— a fully paid for residency which will bring together writers and artists from around the country and provide them with a nurturing space to pursue their work.
Situated in the lush and picaresque region of Vagamon in Kerala, the Residency will host a small group of writers and artists twice a year for a period of four weeks each, beginning April 2020. The Vagamon Residency aims to be a space where creative minds can flourish, and will provide writers and artists the perfect environment to pursue their craft.
KLF will take care of the accommodation and all incidental costs for the writers and artists while they are at the Residency. In addition, select speakers from the publishing and artistic community will be invited to the Vagamon Residency so that the resident writers and artists can interact with and be guided by some renowned names in their fields.
There will be a submission process for applications to the Vagamon Residency; this will be launched in the next few weeks along with the website for the Residency. The Kerala Literature Festival is committed to nurturing creativity and the idea of a residency for writers and artists emerged from this desire to contribute to the creative journey of a writer and artist -- and thus the
Vagamon Residency was born.
“We created the Kerala Literature Festival in the hope of providing a platform to nurture futuristic thinking. We believe the core of KLF can stretch beyond the 4 day yearly festival. It's why this year, which is the 5th edition, we're introducing The Vagamon Residency Program, a sequestered space that will allow for the expansion of creativity”- Ravi Deecee, Chief Facilitator, Kerala Literature Festival.
KLF is second largest cultural gathering and the fastest-growing literature festival on the continent. Set along the shores of the Arabian Sea by the beaches of Calicut, the festival brings readers and writers together for inspiration, entertainment, and discussion.
