The highly acclaimed veteran composer duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal have created some of the most iconic songs that we hum even today – be it Jooma Chumma De De,Karz or Dhal Gaya Din amongst many others. Pyarelalji along with composer duo Salim – Sulaiman will be seen in the first episode of MX Original Series - Times of Music, a unique concept that sees 2 composers of different eras soak in the philosophy behind the other’s celebrated song, its ethos and interpret it in his own way to create a fabulous new rendition. While Salim – Sulaiman will be crooning Pyarelalji’s Mere Mehboob Qayamat Hogi, Pyarelalji will be presenting his version of their chartbuster Shukran Allah.
Here's a quick sneak peek to their episode - https://youtu.be/MXZZwspsQIc
This series is hosted by the hugely popular Vishal Dadlani who will be unwrapping interesting stories from their lives and one such revelation that we came across is how Pyarelalji’s mere presence in a room caused 225 musicians to fall silent, in awe and respect for this senior composer.
Narrating the story Vishal Dadlani reminded Pyarelalji saying, "2007 mein, Shekhar aur main bohot kaapte hue aapke paas aye the aur humne Om Shanti Om mein ek gaana banaya tha jisme humne aap se kaha tha ki hamara yeh gaana, jo aap hi ke style mein banaya hai humne, kya aap arrange karenge? Aur aapne apna badappan dikhake haan kaha tha.”
Apparently, this was the first time in Vishal & Shekhar’s life that 225 musicians were part of one song (Dhoom Taana). It was an army of musicians with each one talking at the same time and it was quite loud. They didn’t know how to control this army but when Pyarelalji entered the room, everyone just fell silent. If you were to drop a pin in the room, you’d be able to hear the sound is what Vishal recounted.
Well – all we can say is that’s the magic of Pyarelalji!
