Mumbai, 15 July, 2021: From perineal trauma to C-section surgeries, a woman’s body goes through a great deal of change during and after giving birth, which is why it deserves special attention to recover fully. But rarely are women empowered with any information on rehabilitation “the right way,” neither by medical facilities nor mainstream fitness. Instead, there is an unrealistic societal pressure on women to either “bounce back” or “lose the weight” right after popping the baby. Where, in fact, the focus should be to heal and strengthen the changed body inside out.
Sucheta Pal faced the same challenges as a new mom last year, and that is when she decided to change the narrative. While she studied postpartum fitness and is a certified specialist in it, she created Mom.Bod.Strong, India’s first-of-its-kind scientific research based fitness program for women. By offering it as an online self-paced program, she makes sure it is affordable and accessible, so that more and more women can benefit from it, feel empowered with their changed ‘Mom Bods,’ and safely return to exercise post-delivery. The program is curated to restore strength and function to the deep core stability system through specialised core rehabilitation movements, the game-changing connection breath technique to heal diastasis recti/ab separation, and a comprehensive post-pregnancy nutrition and lifestyle guide.
Mom.Bod.Strong is a program open for all women - whether a new mother or a mother to a 10-year-old who wishes to take charge of her body and feel stronger and healthier than ever before after childbirth.
A new mom and having faced a challenging postpartum fitness journey herself, Sucheta Pal, said, “For many women, ‘bouncing back’ after having a baby is a common fitness goal. But we all have been a little surprised by our postpartum bodies. A weak core, stretched pelvic floor, poor posture, an aching body, and lack of energy are only some changes that make getting back to exercise difficult, no matter how fit and strong we were before having a baby. At the same time, getting back to the suitable exercises can get confusing, especially with a myriad of conflicting information available. What was lacking was an empowering approach to rehabilitating, healing and strengthening our body after childbirth, irrespective of when we became a mother. And this is precisely what the Mom.Bod.Strong postpartum fitness program seeks to fulfil.”
