Tips that can help you recover your hair naturally post covid By Dr. Navnit Haror, Founder & Director of Derma Miracle Clinic

COVID-19 along with its other complications, brings forward a rare but prevalent scenario - hair fall. Fever is a common symptom of COVID-19 but as the person eventually recovers from it, many people start noticing hair loss- which is actually hair shedding- there’s a medical term for it-Telogen Effluvium. It takes place when more than normal hair starts shedding from the roots and when you can see the difference while brushing and washing them. This can continue for six to nine months post the illness-and then gradually they start growing back normally. It’s noticeable but that’s all you should experience. If you feel a rash and itchy scalp- something else is bothering you and it’s time to knock on the doors of a dermatologist. In some cases, stress might be the only problem-and not COVID. Again, if stress is the cause, your hair will start falling after three to four months. It’s necessary to destress -only then your hair will stop shedding and will regain its normal growth. It’s almost an ordeal to recover from an illness and when we do- it’s stressful and our body literally reacts to it -gives us signs as we are engulfed and subjected to physical and emotional pain but there’s always a silver lining - the fact that it’s reversible. Reactivate, rejuvenate, replenish, boost your iron levels. Since our body uses the iron reserves for building the red blood cells, hence, reinforcing the fact that they are pivotal for the reversal of telogen effluvium and getting back your hair to fullness quickly. There are numerous factors responsible like lack of certain vitamins, lack of proper hair care, reduced levels of vitamin D and B 12. Where normally we lose 100 hair strands a day, during post covid hair fall we lose 300-400 strands on a regular basis.

Here are some precautions that you should start practicing if you have been experiencing hair fall after recovering from COVID, and have no clue of what’s going on-

  1. Eliminate sour and salty foods from your diet,
  2. Stay away from alcohol,
  3. Avoid Smoking,
  4. Use coconut oil,

Hair care entirely depends on the willingness of the person-and when you’ve priorly gone through an acute immune system jeopardizing illness-it will precisely require additional care. Just follow a rich balanced diet and don't forget to incorporate superior nutrients like vitamin B 12 and Vitamin D to restore and retrieve your shiny and voluminous hair. We all are well associated with the fact that when it comes to daily hair care, coconut oil is like a magic wand for your hair- it’s like wearing magic on your hair. We all love our champi rituals when our mothers and grandmothers massage our hair with coconut oil-it’s recommended by everyone as a miracle solution to your hair. It’s like your hair and coconut oil are united-just like wearing magic. High in vitamin E and the long chain triglycerides- it deep conditions your hair, showers them with the much-needed nourishment- giving you silky, smooth shiny and voluminous hair. Apply it on the scalp to eliminate hair breakage from the roots, treat dandruff, split ends.
