They say love can happen at any age and life is all about second chances, you just need to have the perfect sight for it. Such is the story of Shiva and Yudi from ALTBalaji and ZEE5’s new offering Hum Tum and Them. The series, a complete family drama, stars one of the most popular names on Indian television, Shweta Tiwari. She will be seen making her digital debut along with the stylish and suave Akshay Oberoi in the lead role. Part of the ensemble cast includes Bhavin Bhanushali, Aashika Bhatia, Gautam Ahuja, Trupti Khamkar who will play pivotal roles in what seems to be a journey filled with emotions and a series of highs and lows. The 15 episodic series is now streaming on ALTBalaji and ZEE5 with 10 episodes being released today and the remaining 5 episodes streaming on December 9th on both ALTBalaji and ZEE5.
‘Hum Tum And Them’ is far from the mainstream love story. Not only is it the story of a couple, looking to begin their second innings of love and start afresh, but its their kids from their previous relationship that adds a host of uncertainty. The story begins with Shiva (Shweta Tiwari) who is a super talented Textile Revivalist, a single mother who is strong, independent, sensitive and protective towards her daughter, Jahan. She wants to be there for her daughter and live each and every moment of her life withher. Devastated in her previous marriage, Shiva has lost her self-confidence and came out so barren that she doesn’t think she can ever take the plunge again. On the other hand, Yudi (Akshay Oberai) is a carefree, happy go lucky guy who is miles away from responsibilities and has always escaped from long term attachments including fatherhood of his three children. He could neither become a good husband and nor a good father.
Their lives were simple and were going as per their plans until Shiva and Yudi crossed paths. This is the love story of these two souls working in the same direction- to become a good parent. With Shweta’s daughter going through what every teenage girl goes, Akshay’s trio don’t make things any smoother for him as they are welcomed to the ‘new woman’ in their father’s life. It is an unusual love story between two lost souls, who find solace in each other and get ready for a journey leaving behind their past and hopeful for the future. Being alone in their respective lives, will they grab the 2nd chance thrown by life at them? With their kids around, will their love story be complete? Will the kids accept their parents’ relationship?
On the launch of their show, Shweta Tiwari said, “Being new to this digital world, I believe this was the perfect opportunity for me to make my debut. I could relate to the story and believe that life always gives you second chances, and whether to make most out of it or waste it, it is totally up to you. The story beautifully depicts the complications in relationships, be it lovers, mother-daughter etc. I had a great time shooting with the entire cast and I hope the audience will love it too.”
Talking about the web-series, Akshay Oberai said, “It was an honor working with an actor like Shweta Tiwari who has already proved her mettle in the telly world. I got the opportunity to learn a lot from her while having a lot of fun. I am playing the character of Yudi in the show, who is older than my actual age and it was really challenging to carry myself and look like one in terms of body language, looks etc. We really had an amazing time with the entire cast of the show which is more like slice of life and portrays various facets of relationships. Now that the shoot is over, I am really looking forward to audience reaction on the web-series.”
‘Hum Tum and Them’ revolves around a family drama and the pain that everyone goes through in maintaining perfect harmony in the house. It’s a story unlike any other you’ve seen as two people who get a second chance at love almost lose it because they don’t feel they deserve it.
