1. You have always been good in academics, right from school up till university. Being such a bright student, how did yoga slip into your life?
Ans 1) I was always very keen for exercising . When I was a child , my mother often accompanied me to learn yoga and physical education to world yoga society , a very well known yoga institution in Kolkata . There I trained since 6 year old and participated in the Bengal yoga Championship where I won . I gained confidence and started my yoga journey , which happened parallel with my academics .... yoga happened.. it was the calling and I answered .
2. When did you decide to take up yoga professionally? How did you start your company Palomayoga and what are the hurdles you faced while setting it up?
Ans 2) Yoga happened professionally only when I left for United States for my yoga training . I saw a complete face of yoga, a yoga that is scientific , meticulous and structured . A yoga which can help cures so many. I learnt how to teach yoga in a more structured way . I was teaching in some of the best international yoga studios , had well planned yoga syllabus and our class were disciplined , marketed very well . Such a fresh outlook was like a new sun and I wanted to comeback to India with this new yoga face and approach .
First I was working with my family and their company , when I realised that I wanted to carve out my own identity and give it a corporate outlook , that’s the starting point of Palomayoga.
Palomayoga , like any other startup is a very nascent stage . Hurdles will always be there , but a yogi finds the brighter side .. and the best thing about my startup is the smile and good health that is my product .
3. Shed some light on your yoga philosophy?
Ans 3) My yoga is multi dimensional . On one hand , I want to reach out to millions and cure many such diseases that brings pain to the lives of people . Yoga is that science which controls many diseases and on the other hand , corporate yoga training is what I am aiming at . International level yoga training for the youth today is my motto so teaching yoga is taken as one progressive professions of India today.
4. What keeps you motivated to get up and do what you are doing everyday, at such hard times?
Ans 4) the very fact that every single day , hundreds of my fellow men are risking their lives to keep us safe .. and as a yogi , we can do our little part ‘ this is my only thought when I open my eyes everyday .
5. Tell us about your immunity yoga series.
Ans 5) The yoga immunity series:
During the times of covid 19
Palomayoga, my company is still working from home , where i am imparting a special series called immunity yoga series which works on boosting up your immunity level so any person practising it ... is virus free . The yoga series pumps up the resistance level of the body to a greatest extent so that no virus can effect the body. I have devised a magical series so well harmonised that it works on each and every bone joints ligaments , all at the same time . It works on your cardio vascular system , digestive system ,circulatory system, respiratory system ,nervous system , thus making the body very strong .
6. Which are the areas you focus on as a lifestyle coach?
6)As a lifestyle coach .. my approach is pragmatic, methodical , precise and emotional. I delve into the deepest psychological crevasse of the mind, mould the lifestyle, food habbits, inculcate a regular yoga practising habbit and transform a person physically , emotionally and psychologically. So its a overall transformation. A holistic process.
7. How does yoga help to cure mental health and other illness? Any particular yogasnas to be practiced?
Ans 7)yoga helps to control many mental diseases and various others . Regular practise of meditation and yoga asana practise controls signs of depression and stress. The focus of the mind, the chanting and the anulom vilom breathing technique , ( pumping in more oxygen into the lungs , thus helping the blood circulation and detox of the body ) . Any spinal issues , slip disc can be controlled by regular practise of camel posture( ustra asana)and cobra ( bhujanga asana).
8. As a celebrity yoga instructor and meditation expert, what routine do you follow for such clients?
Ans 8)with my celebrity clients from the film or television industry , and giant CEO’s ,
We regularly practise breathing exercise ( 2 times a day minimum ) , meditation ( atleast once a day, and suryanamaskar ( In the morning ) and regular practise of spinal series to keep the spine healthy.
9. Can you tell us a simple yoga routine that people can follow at home during the lockdown to stay fit and healthy?
Ans 9) There are four postures that people should practise easily in their daily lives. Bhastika, anulom vilom , pranayama and cobra posture . This is the secret of keeping yourself fit in difficult times . Keeping a strong heart and strong mind is the key.
10. Any advice to people who are set to become fitness trainers?
Ans 10) For young teachers , yoga is one of the best profession to be in . But understanding human anatomy and technique is the key to becoming a good yoga teacher . And above all , stay humble and grounded .
