Last year Nabhangan’s team started redeveloping Zilla Parishad School in Pandhari pimpalgaon near Aurangabad. The school design is based on climate-sensitive elements, climate-responsive landscaping respects the local environment, and brings a new approach with fun learning. The construction of classrooms, toilet, and staff room has been recently completed and the foundation is at the last phase of completing landscaping, door-windows, furniture work.
Elaborating on the project Rajshri Deshpande, Founder of Nabhangan foundation said “The village is currently facing reverse migration due to COVID19 crisis and we decided to turn the unemployment crisis into an opportunity to complete the school construction by community participation. We have gathered a team of young farmers from the village to create local income opportunities by building their own school. However to complete the project we require support from the larger community and therefore we decided to collaborate with Ketto.org. Ketto’s ‘Zero Platform Fee’ initiative is enabling us with more fund benefit to our project.”The foundation has gathered a team of young farmers from this village to create local income opportunities by building their own school. The team of young farmers will develop landscaping around school, construct door-windows of school by recycled material, and create play equipment and furniture with scrap material. We are looking for financial support to complete the pending work in school by the community participation approach and turn the global health crisis into upliftment of our villages through self-sustainable projects.
