Cultural Affairs Minister condoles demise of Dr. Bal Purohit


Mumbai, December 26: Maharashtra Cultural Affairs Minister Amit Vilasrao Deshmukh today condoled the demise of Senior classical singer Dr. (Narayan) Bal Purohit. 

In a condolence message, the Cultural Affairs Minister wrote: “I was deeply saddened to know about the demise of great Classical singer Dr. Bal Purohit who was from Nagpur. He devoted his entire life to the study and teaching of music. Ustad Amir Khan Saheb and his singing had a great influence on the singing of Purohit, he also had deep knowledge of other Classical clan. In the last fifty years, he has built a large disciple family.

His contribution as a profound student of classical music, a great singer and author will always be remembered, "Deshmukh said in his condolence message.
