Meet The Person Who Introduced DanceSport to India

Indians have always been good competitors and emerged victorious in sports and other international platforms. Everyone knows this, but the lesser-known fact is the representation of India in DanceSport. Rajeswari has been representing India in various international competitions. 

The known perfectionist trained with the Asia Pacific Champion from Thailand WatcharakornSuasubpun and 7th World European Champions, recently retired- SlavaVishnekovs and TerezaVargule. Having been regularly recognised by globally applauded trainers, Rajeswari is fully equipped to match and continue to set bench marks overseas as well. Being the first Indian to hold a certificate for Completion in Competitive DanceSport, she began to teach and train as per the set standards by Champions.

Furthermore, with a zealous attitude Rajeswari along with her dance partner Shannon Benjamin did not only pursue a Silver Medal in Thailand Open Championships but also honoured India with a Gold Medal in Taipei Open DanceSport Championships. Apart from being the pioneer of bringing the national affiliation of the World Dance Council to India, she is also the Indian Ambassador of Freedom to Dance, United Kingdom. With a focus of motivating dancers to attain the right dance technicalities, this talented TEDx Speaker has pushed numerous competitors to improve the standards of DanceSport. 

Under Rajeswari’s leadership, Indian DanceSport Council has organized various International andNational Competitions in India.RajeswariVaidyanathan’s biopic, ‘Heart of a Dancer’, released in mid-February, is an ideal epitome of this statement. Directed by Veronica Kayal, this documentary captures Rajeswari’s long journey in a span of 17 minutes.
