Hindustan Petroleum Corporation
Limited (HPCL) takes great pride in announcing the successful launch of a
groundbreaking pilot study on vehicles using E27 fuel and Ethanol Blended
Diesel Fuel. With this milestone achievement, HPCL becomes the first Oil
Marketing Company in India to initiate such a comprehensive research program,
in line with the "Roadmap for Ethanol Blending in India by 2025,"
which aims to promote the adoption of Ethanol Blending in gasoline.
The roadmap, designed to usher in a
greener and more sustainable future, outlines a phased rollout plan for
achieving 20% Ethanol Blended Gasoline (E20) by April 2023 and ensuring its
widespread availability by April 2025. It further emphasizes the introduction
of E20 material-compliant and E10 engine-tuned vehicles starting from April
2023, followed by the production of E20-tuned engine vehicles from April 2025.
At HPCL's state-of-the-art Green R&D
Centre in Devanagunthi, Bengaluru, dedicated efforts are underway to conduct
comprehensive research on biofuels. The center's proficient team is evaluating
the effects and performance of different blends of ethanol-gasoline, ranging
from 10% to 27%, as well as various blends of ethanol-diesel, on different
categories of test vehicles at the Engine Research laboratory.
Preliminary studies conducted on vehicles
fueled with E27 have shown remarkable reductions in emissions like CO and THC
when compared to traditional gasoline. Additionally, significant potential for
reducing net CO2 emissions has been observed. By utilizing higher ethanol
blends in two-wheelers and passenger cars, we can substantially contribute to
reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and promote a low-carbon economy. As
part of the pilot launch, HPCL will also evaluate ethanol-diesel trials on
passenger cars, aiming for a targeted mileage accumulation of 20,000 km
initially.
On the momentous occasion of World Environment Day 2023, HPCL proudly stands as the first Oil Marketing Company in India to initiate a pilot study on vehicles utilizing E27 fuel and Ethanol Blended Diesel Fuel. The pilot involved the participation of six vehicles, including a configuration of 1x4W and 2x2W for E27 fuel testing, 1x4W for Ethanol blended Diesel fuel testing, 1x3W for Compressed Bio-Gas fuel testing, and 1x4W for E20 fuel study.
The pilot study of E27 fuel will focus
on assessing its performance and emissions in engines and vehicles through
extended mileage accumulation. Mileage accumulation of up to 10,000 km for
two-wheelers and 20,000 km for passenger cars using E27 fuel is planned for
this phase. Ethanol trials, in accordance with IS 1460:2017 fuel
specifications, will also be conducted in conjunction with biodiesel-diesel.
Looking ahead, India's next milestone
in the Ethanol blending program is achieving 27% Ethanol blending beyond E20
fuel. With the success of the ongoing trials and the achievement of E27 fuel,
India will proudly stand side by side with Brazil on the global platform in the
Ethanol blending program.
In keeping with the roadmap for
Ethanol blending in India, HPCL successfully launched E20 fuel on February 6th,
2023, at 23 retail outlets (ROs) across the country. To further progress
towards achieving the target of 20% Ethanol blending by 2025 and expand the
network of E20 ROs nationwide, HPCL has increased the number of E20 ROs to 350,
the highest among industry players. These E20 ROs are strategically spread
across 21 states in the country.
Since the introduction of E20 fuel,
HPCL has already reduced approximately 3000 MT of greenhouse gas (GHG)
emissions to date. It is projected that by 2025, the use of E20 fuel will
contribute to the reduction of more than 200 lakh MT of GHG emissions. This
significant reduction in emissions underscores HPCL's commitment to
environmental sustainability.
To mark World Environment Day 2023, HPCL has launched an E20 awareness campaign at retail outlets, featuring an incentive program, offering rewards of Rs. 0.8 per Rs. 100 spent on E20 fuel. Standees have been prominently displayed at all E20 ROs to ensure customers are aware of this scheme and to encourage their participation.

हिन्दुस्तान पेट्रोलियम कॉर्पोरेशन लिमिटेड (एचपीसीएल) ने वाहनों में ई27 ईंधन और इथेनॉल मिश्रित डीजल ईंधन के उपयोग का एक अनूठा प्रायोगिक अध्ययन किया और उसे इसके सफल परीक्षण की घोषणा करते हुए बड़ा गर्व महसूस हो रहा है। इस उल्लेखनीय उपलब्धि के साथ, एचपीसीएल भारत में "2025 तक भारत में इथेनॉल मिश्रण की रूपरेखा" के अनुरूप इतने बड़े पैमाने पर अनुसंधान कार्यक्रम शुरू करने वाली ऐसी पहली तेल विपणन कंपनी बन गई है, जिसका उद्देश्य गैसोलीन में इथेनॉल मिलाने को बढ़ावा देना है।
हरे-भरे तथा अधिक स्थायी भविष्य सुनिश्चित करने के लिए तैयार की गई रूपरेखा में अप्रैल 2023 तक 20% इथेनॉल मिश्रित गैसोलीन (ई20) प्राप्त करने तथा अप्रैल 2025 तक इसकी व्यापक उपलब्धता सुनिश्चित करने के लिए एक चरणबद्ध योजना शुरू करने की रूपरेखा तैयार करना शामिल है। इसके अलावा, इसमें ई20 सामग्री और ई-10 इंजन-ट्यून्ड वाहनों का इस्तेमाल करने पर बल दिया गया है। ये वाहन अप्रैल 2023 से चलाए जाएंगे, जिसके बाद अप्रैल 2025 से ई20-ट्यून इंजन वाहनों का निर्माण किया जाएगा।
देवनगुंथी, बेंगलुरु में एचपीसीएल के अत्याधुनिक ग्रीन आरएंडडी केंद्र में जैव ईंधन पर व्यापक अनुसंधान करने के लिए विशिष्ट प्रयास चल रहे हैं। केंद्र की कुशल टीम इंजन अनुसंधान प्रयोगशाला में परीक्षण वाहनों की विभिन्न श्रेणियों पर 10% से 27% तक इथेनॉल-गैसोलीन के विभिन्न मिश्रणों के प्रभाव और प्रदर्शन का मूल्यांकन कर रही है, साथ ही इथेनॉल-डीजल के विभिन्न मिश्रणों का मूल्यांकन भी कर रही है।
ई27 से चलने वाले वाहनों पर किए गए प्रारंभिक अध्ययनों से
पारंपरिक गैसोलीन की तुलना में सीओ और टीएचसी जैसे उत्सर्जन में हुई उल्लेखनीय कमी
का पता चला है। इसके अलावा, शुद्ध सीओ2 उत्सर्जन को कम करने की व्यापक क्षमता का भी पता चला
है। दोपहिया वाहनों और यात्री कारों में अधिक इथेनॉल मिश्रण का उपयोग करके,
हम ग्रीनहाउस गैस (जीएचजी) उत्सर्जन को कम करने और कम
कार्बन का उत्सर्जन करने वाली अर्थव्यवस्था को बढ़ावा देने में महत्वपूर्ण योगदान
दे सकते हैं। प्रायोगिक परियोजना के भाग के रूप में, एचपीसीएल यात्री कारों पर इथेनॉल-डीजल परीक्षणों का भी
मूल्यांकन करेगा, जिसका लक्ष्य
शुरुआत में 20,000 कि.मी. के
लक्षित लाभ प्राप्त करना है।
विश्व पर्यावरण दिवस 2023 के महत्वपूर्ण अवसर पर, एचपीसीएल को वाहनों में ई27 ईंधन और इथेनॉल मिश्रित डीजल ईंधन का उपयोग करके प्रायोगिक अध्ययन शुरू करने वाली भारत की पहली तेल विपणन कंपनी बनने पर गर्व है। इस प्रायोगिक अध्ययन में छह वाहनों को शामिल किया गया था, जिसमें ई27 ईंधन परीक्षण के लिए 1x4वॉट और 2x2वॉट, इथेनॉल मिश्रित डीजल ईंधन परीक्षण के लिए 1x4वॉट, कंप्रेस्ड बायो-गैस ईंधन परीक्षण के लिए 1x3वॉट और ई20 ईंधन अध्ययन के लिए 1x4वॉट का कॉन्फ़िगरेशन शामिल था।
ई27 ईंधन के प्रायोगिक अध्ययन में मील दूरी के बढ़ने पर इंजनों और वाहनों में इसके प्रदर्शन और कार्बन उत्सर्जन का आकलन करने पर ध्यान केंद्रित किया जाएगा। इस चरण के तहत दोपहिया वाहनों के लिए 10,000 कि.मी. और ई27 ईंधन का उपयोग करने वाली यात्री कारों के लिए 20,000 कि.मी. तक की मील दूरी का पता लगाने की योजना है। आईएस 1460:2017 ईंधन विनिर्देशों के अनुसार, इथेनॉल परीक्षण बायोडीजल-डीजल पर भी किया जाएगा।
भविष्य में, इथेनॉल सम्मिश्रण कार्यक्रम में भारत का अगला पड़ाव ई20 ईंधन से परे 27% इथेनॉल मिलाने का लक्ष्य प्राप्त करना है। चल रहे परीक्षणों की सफलता और ई27 ईंधन की उपलब्धि को देखते हुए, भारत इथेनॉल सम्मिश्रण कार्यक्रम में वैश्विक मंच पर बड़े गर्व के साथ ब्राजील की बराबरी कर रहा है।
भारत में इथेनॉल मिलाने की रूपरेखा को ध्यान में रखते हुए, एचपीसीएल ने 6 फरवरी, 2023 को पूरे देश में 23 रिटेल आउटलेट्स (आरओ) पर सफलतापूर्वक ई20 ईंधन लॉन्च किया। 2025 तक 20% इथेनॉल मिलाने के लक्ष्य को प्राप्त करने की दिशा में आगे बढ़ने और पूरे देश में ई20 आरओ नेटवर्क का विस्तार करने के लिए, एचपीसीएल ने ई20 आरओ की संख्या बढ़ाकर 350 कर दी है, जो उद्योग जगत की कंपनियों में सबसे अधिक है। ये ई20 आरओ योजनाबद्ध तरीके से देश के 21 राज्यों में फैले हुए हैं।
ई20 ईंधन की शुरुआत के बाद से, एचपीसीएल ने अब तक लगभग 3000 मीट्रिक टन ग्रीनहाउस गैस (जीएचजी) उत्सर्जन को कम किया है। यह अनुमान लगाया गया है कि 2025 तक ई20 ईंधन के उपयोग से 200 लाख मीट्रिक टन से अधिक जीएचजी उत्सर्जन में कमी आएगी। उत्सर्जन में यह महत्वपूर्ण कमी पर्यावरण को बनाए रखने के प्रति एचपीसीएल की प्रतिबद्धता को दर्शाती है।
विश्व पर्यावरण दिवस 2023 के अवसर पर, एचपीसीएल ने रिटेल आउटलेट्स पर एक ई20 जागरूकता अभियान शुरू किया है। यह एक प्रोत्साहन कार्यक्रम है, जिसमें ई20 ईंधन पर खर्च किए गए प्रति रु. 100 पर रु. 0.8 इनाम के रूप में दिए जाते हैं। ग्राहकों को इस योजना के बारे में जागरूकता फैलाने और उनकी भागीदारी को प्रोत्साहित करने के लिए सभी ई20 आरओ में स्टैंडी बैनरों को प्रमुखता से प्रदर्शित किया गया है।
