29th August 2019, Delhi: A gastronomical delight, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) in association with Shangri-La's - Eros Hotel, New Delhi announces a week long ‘Macanese Food Festival’ starting this 30th August to 6th September, 2019 in New Delhi. Showcasing Macao's unique blend of both Chinese and Portuguese cuisine, ‘Macanese Food Festival’ will display a plethora of Macanese culinary delights exquisitely prepared and curated by the expert chefs at Shangri-La’s- Eros Hotel, New Delhi.
The week long ‘Macanese Food Festival’ is all set to tantalize the taste buds of patrons with a specially curated menu showcasing the flavors of Macao. The delicious highly-praised Portuguese Egg Custard Tarts, the traditional Minchi, the authentic Pork Chop BunsCantonese Styled Dimsums and desserts like the famous Serradura will be the must-have amongst others.
Commenting on the occasion Arzan Khambatta, Head of Macao Government Tourism Office, India, says, “Macanese cuisine is unique to Macao and is one of the most distinctive cuisines evolved, a blend of Chinese and Portuguese food and cooking styles which truly showcases the incredible food culture of Macao. We are pleased to partner with Shangri-la’s Eros Hotel to introduce and showcase culinary strength of Macao, a Taste of Macao in India, with the Macanese Food Festival. As a UNESCO designated Creative City of Gastronomy, our aim is to bring together the food cultures of east and west and we are excited to present our unique culinary legacy by promoting and popularizing our cuisine here in India with this exclusive alliance.”
An epitome of gastronomical, historical and cultural experiences, in terms of inheritance, the designation is set to endorse the global recognition of Macao’s 450 years old culinary legacy, arousing interest among the young generation in gastronomy culture, especially in Macanese cuisine and providing favourable conditions for food traditions to continuously thrive.
