Lonely Planet Magazine India enters its second decade with an emphasis on #conscioustravel

February 24, 2020, was a fabulous Friday for 11 travel influencers as Lonely Planet Magazine India celebrated the beginning of its second decade by taking them on a bicycle trip. As part of the #GreenStrides initiative that promotes sustainable travel choices, the riders enjoyed riding Kross bicycles, as they explored the hidden gems of South Mumbai.
The group included lifestyle and travel influencers Dimpi Sanghvi, Forum Shah (The Downtown Woman), Trishita Bhattacharya (Overrated Outcast), Aishwarya Sharma (Sassy Aish), Keya Khavte (Where is K?), Shashank Sanghvi, Sameer Nagori (Mumbai Food Trails), Kaushal Karkhanis (Exotic Gringo), and Tushar Panchal (Bombayiger), as well as Masterchef India finalist Karishma Sakhrani, and actor, model, and travel influencer Maradona Rebello.
The explorers were led by Johann Daniels of Jack and Hill Adventures, with Priya Pathiyan, lifestyle columnist and curator of bespoke Mumbai experiences, entertaining the group with never-heard-before stories of these monuments, as well as about the communities who have traditionally lived in South Mumbai .
The group rode from the iconic CSTM all the way to Marine Drive, where they halted at the Parsi Gate, to learn of the Art Deco buildings on Mumbai’s famous seaside promenade. Their next stops were at the scenic Walkeshwar viewpoint and at Khotachiwadi, one of the last surviving East Indian villages in the metropolis. At the end of the ride, the famished riders were treated to a lavish breakfast of local, seasonal and sustainable food at The Pantry in the Kala Ghoda cultural precinct.
The ride was part of an initiative to encourage exploring our own neighbourhoods, while curbing our carbon footprint.
