Founded by Vandana Gupta, a cancer survivor who was
inspired by her own journey to fight cancer, V Care Foundation was formed to
address the gaps patients face as they go through cancer treatment in India.
Speaking about the 26 years of V Care Foundation, Vandana Gupta, Founder, V Care Foundation said, “We at V Care Foundation believe that it is a
difficult emotional and physical journey. Lack of awareness further adds to the
stress. We are committed to serve cancer patients and our inspired each day by
the value we bring the patients and the care givers.”
She further added, “A one on one conversation
with our patient advocates or call taken to our toll-free helpline tells a
father where he can stay for free as his child is going through treatment, it
can tell a son where he can find proper nutrition resources for his mother
undergoing treatment, or it can be a patient ear to a care giver who is dealing
with an ill loved one. It’s about giving hope as much as it is about sharing
information that eases this journey for the patients and the care givers.”
A cancer survivor, Vandana was committed to make her experience with
cancer an opportunity. Thus, was born the mission to create a strong support
system for cancer patients in India. “I
remember feeling scared and lonely, and with several unanswered questions. A
constant nagging feeling of ‘what if’, then the mind went silent but the heart
continued to tick.” She says.
“Compassion and empathy were the building blocks as I started my journey
to give cancer patients the courage to move ahead, face challenges and have a
more positive outlook to life”, she concludes.
V Care Foundation recognises every February as survivor month and
organises several programs for cancer patients and care givers here in Mumbai.
Events included cancer awareness and education sessions, distribution of
hampers for patients, a short get-away for the patients and families, special
programs for paediatric cancer patients, capability building and knowledge
sharing workshops. Victor, Caregiver Extraordinaire, Lifetime Achievement, ShriRatan
Young Volunteer and Shri Niranjan Parikh Humanitarian Awards recognize and
commend individuals who have exemplified the strength and courage it takes to
fight cancer whether be it a patient, caregiver, advocate, or volunteer.

V Care
Foundation is a voluntary support group that touches one new cancer patient
every three minutes. For the last 26 years, they provide financial support, free
help, create awareness and provide education to cancer patients and their families
through outreach programs and services that improve the quality of their lives.
Volunteers meet patients and manage a toll free helpline where patients and
care givers can get emotional and information needed as the patient embarks on
the treatment journey.
A cancer
survivor, Vandana Gupta, founded V Care Foundation as she felt a big gap in the
support for cancer patients in India as they go through this difficult
