Thane paddler Siddhesh emerges champion

Mumbai, January 28:

Fifth-seeded Siddhesh Pande of Thane District was in his elements and dished out some brilliant performances and went on to sideline fourth-seed Chinmay Somiya of The Suburban Table Tennis Association in six games, cruising to a 12-10, 11-5, 9-11, 9-11, 11-7, 11-6 victory in the Men’s singles final of the Dr. Ramesh Prabhoo Memorial 82^nd Maharashtra State Table Tennis Championship organized by The Suburban District Table Tennis Association and played at the Prabodhankar Thackeray Krida Sankul, Vile Parle, Mumbai on Thursday evening.

The Thane paddler showed remarkable fighting qualities to win the first game. Trailing 4-10 he bounced back by winning the next seven games in a row to win the opening game. He went on to win the second to take a 2-0 lead. The Mumbai paddler Chinmay not prepared to give up won the next two games to draw level before Siddhesh once dictated terms and quickly snatched the next two games to wrap up the match and emerge champion.

Earlier, the Thane paddler Siddhesh scored a sensational win against top seed Sanil Shetty of TSTTA in the semi-final. In a pulsating battle for supremacy Siddesh who has represented Indian in the Youth and Junior events fought well against the senior Indian star Sanil to record a deserving 11-8, 8-11, 15-13, 12-10, 10-12, 4-11, 11-4 victory and advance to the title round.

The second semi-final witnessed some long rallies before Chinmay managed to get the better of his teammate Shivam Das by pulling through in six games at 7-11, 13-11, 11-7, 14-16, 14-12, 11-3.

Siddhesh Pande (THN) beat Deepit Patil (THN) 11-5, 11-6, 8-11, 11-8, 11-6;

Chinmay Somiya (TSTTA) beat Mandar Hardikar (TSTTA) 11-7, 11-4, 7-11, 11-3, 9-11, 15-13;

Shivam Das (TSTTA) beat Ravindra Kotiyan (TSTTA) 6-11, 13-11, 11-9, 4-11, 11-7, 11-6, 11-7.

Semi-finals: Siddhesh Pande (THN) beat Sanil Shetty (TSTTA) 11-8, 8-11, 15-13, 12-10, 10-12, 4-11, 11-4;

Chinmay Somiya (TSTTA) beat Shivam Das (TSTTA) 7-11, 13-11, 11-7, 14-16, 14-12, 11-3.

पाचव्या मानांकित ठाण्याच्या सिद्धेश पांडेने उपनगर टेबल टेनिस असोसिएशनच्या चिन्मय सोमय्याचा 12-10,11-5,9-11,9-11,11-7, 11-6 असा पराभव करत उपनगर जिल्हा टेबल टेनिस असोसिएशन आयोजित डॉ. रमेश प्रभू स्मृती 82 व्या महाराष्ट्र राज्य टेबल टेनिस अजिंक्यपद स्पर्धेत पुरुष  एकेरी गटाचे जेतेपद मिळवले. या स्पर्धेचे आयोजन विले पार्ले येथील प्रबोधनकार ठाकरे क्रीडा संकुल येथे करण्यात आले आहे.
ठाण्याच्या सिद्धेश पहिल्या गेममध्ये 4-10 असा पिछाडीवर होता. यानंतर त्याने जोरदार पुनरागमन करत पहिला गेम 12-10 असा आपल्या नावे केला.दूसरा गेम जिंकत त्याने सामन्यात 2-0 अशी आघाडी घेतली. चिन्मयने सामन्यातील पुढचे दोन गेम जिंकत सामना बरोबरीत आणला. सिद्धेशने पुन्हा आपला खेळ उंचवित सलग दोन गेम जिंकत जेतेपदावर आपले नाव कोरले
पुरुष गटाच्या पहिल्या उपांत्यसामन्यात सिद्धेश पांडेने सनील शेट्टीला 11-8,8-11,15-13, 12-10,10-12,4-11, 11-4 असे पराभूत केले. सामन्यातील पहिला गेम 11-8 असा जिंकत सिद्धेशने चांगली सुरुवात केली. दुसऱ्या गेममध्ये सनीलने 11-8 अशी चमक दाखवत सामना बरोबरीत आणला. त्यानंतर सिद्धेशने सलग दोन गेम जिंकत सामन्यात 3-1 अशी आघाडी घेतली. पण, सनीलने सलग दोन गेममध्ये चमक दाखवत सामना 3-3 असा बरोबरीत आणला. निर्णायक गेममध्ये सिद्धेशने छाप पाडत सामना जिंकला.दुसऱ्या उपांत्यलढतीत चिन्मय सोमय्याने शिवम दासला 7-11,13-11, 11-7,14-16,14-12,11-3 असे नमविले. सामन्यातील पहिला गेम शिवमने 11-7 असा जिंकला. यानंतर चिन्मयने सलग दोन गेम जिंकत सामन्यात 2-1 अशी आघाडी घेतली. दासने पुढचा गेम जिंकत सामना 2-2 असा बरोबरीत आणला. पण, चिन्मयने आपला खेळ उंचावत सलग दोन गेम जिंकले आणि सामन्यात विजय मिळवला.
