Inspired by true events of caste-based discrimination, Quota- The Reservation will now not receive a theatrical release. Despite striving hard and putting in several efforts, the makers have lost heart since they were unable to secure a silver screen premiere. Even though the film has received a lot of global acclaim before release and has been made in 7 languages, there is fear of screening the film due its hard-hitting subject. Inspired by true incidents, the movie tells the story of severe discrimination faced by Dalit students at hands of premiere educational institutions.
Writer, director and producer of the film, Sanjiv Jaiswal said “We are heartbroken since it has been our wish to take the story across the length and breadth of India and getting theaters would have helped greatly. When more untold, forgotten stories of injustice are showcased, there is a chance of inspiring more positive change. With Quota- The Reservation, that is our main aim. We will still keep our heads high, because it is not about us, it is about the entire community on whom this movie is based. We will make sure to find avenues to tell the story. It’s a request to the audience to support us since we could not get space even at The Kapil Sharma show for which we were trying hard. Running a campaign to give a miscall on 7247248449 to show your support to see the film in theatres. ”
Actor Anirudh Dave who plays the lead also commented “The amount of sweat and tears which have gone in the making of this movie is huge. The movie not being able to get screens has given a jolt to us as a team. But we will overcome this, because we owe it to the people on whom the story is based”. The movie is based on real life stories of innocent student lives lost to suicide after they faced discrimination and torture by urban elite educational systems. The film also stars actors Garima Kapoor and Aditya Om in prominent roles.
