ONGC Mumbai CSR along with Thinksharp Foundation, an non-profit organization working since 2013 to bridge the rural-urban education divide through technology has set up smart interactive boards in 14 schools from Mumbai and Palghar coastal area. Majority of students learning in these schools are from fishermen community who only depend on Govt.Schools. Smart Interactive Boards is a new beginning for them after schools reopened post COVID-19 pandemic.
Schooling provides essential learning and when schools close, children and youth are deprived opportunities for growth and development. The disadvantages are disproportionate for under-privileged learners who tend to have fewer educational opportunities beyond school. The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted education systems globally, affecting the most vulnerable learners the hardest.. Kids lost their interest in education and hence, it became a challenge for school authority to bring students back in school and engage in learning process.
With the Smart school initiative from ONGC, kids are again motivated and excited to attend school and the initiative is helping them to develop interest in education and to attend school regularly with improving learning outcomes.
