MathWorks partners with IEEE Guwahati Subsection to embrace AI in Engineering


Guwahati, February 29, 2024:  MathWorks in collaboration with IEEE Guwahati Subsection, concluded a day-long seminar titled "Embracing AI in Engineering: Industry, Academia, and Upskilling for Success" in Guwahati. The seminar underscored the significance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a burgeoning trend within the industry-academic-research ecosystem.

In the Indian education system, MATLAB® and its toolboxes are a pivotal tool for teaching and research in the fields of engineering, science, and technology. It is deeply integrated into the curriculum of undergraduate and graduate programs in various departments. Collaborations between educational institutions and MathWorks, along with government initiatives, further reinforce MATLAB's presence, providing students and faculty with access to advanced toolboxes and training for AI applications. 

During the seminar, various technical experts and academicians shared insights into crucial technological advancements and AI applications in engineering. Additionally, MathWorks experts elaborated on how tools such as MATLAB and Simulink® are propelling AI innovation in industries and preparing the next generation workforce for the evolving landscape of today's technology.

The seminar featured compelling discussions on topics like Hardware Connectivity and IoT with MATLAB and Simulink, AI in Engineering Applications - Masterclass, and AI in Engineering and Science Curriculum.

The seminar featured keynote presentations from distinguished speakers, including Dr. Chandan Kumar, Associate Professor-EEE, IIT Guwahati, and Chair, IEEE Guwahati Subsection, along with Dr. Prithwijit Guha, Associate Professor-EEE, IIT Guwahati and Dr. Samarendra Dandapat, Professor-EEE, IIT Guwahati. Other presenters included Mr. Prasun Banerjee, Account Sales Manager, MathWorks India, Dr. Lakshminarayan Viju Ravichandran, Engineering Technical Manager- Education, MathWorks India, and Dr. Monalisa Pal, Senior Engineer- Education, MathWorks India, who collectively delved into the applications of AI in engineering.
