Activities & Experience- Untapped Market of the travel industry


Technology is vastly impacting our lives in (almost) every way and travel industry is no exception.
With the advancement of technology, people have started booking their travels online. The number of online travel bookings on worldwide bases accounts to only 10% of all travel activities completed and when it comes to India specific data this number is even lower just accounting to only 5% of all travels booked online.
Some of main pillars of travel industry are namely Transportation, Accommodations and 3rd pillar being Activity & Experience. Some major international players that have tapped the Activity & Experience are Viator. Viator has been in this industry for 20 years now but been bought by Tripadvisor. Others players like Klook and Get your Guide which started as a start-up have become unicorns of the industry by getting investment at regular intervals and has provided experiential travel to people worldwide.
Mr. Ankit Jindal, CEO of Trodly started Trodly in 2017, started with an idea to explore the untapped market of activities & experience which is apparently the third pillar of travel industry after transportation and accommodation.
It is a very ripe time to enter and explore this untapped Activity & Experience industry in India because it accounts to 180-200 millions market in India only.   
Ankit Jindal who launched the venture with the aspiration to create disruption in this industry with an aim to provide travellers the ease of booking activities & experiences online. Trodly a successful boot-strapped has successfully booked experiential tours and activities in 400 destinations in India and Sri Lanka and have future plans of hitting other countries like Africa and America by 2020. Trodly as a technology platform has over 2000 different kind of tours and activities to offer and have plans to increase these activities to over 10,000 by end of this year. Trodly closes about 1,00,000 monthly active users on their web platform. The app is mostly used by paying customers and has thus far has about 5000+ downloads.
They very recently ventured into first of its kind B2B Re seller Marketplace for Tours & Activities. This product enables travel agents and small and medium-sized travel businesses to grow their businesses to new destinations and across multitude of categories.
