BSAM Mumbai Snooker League report

Mumbai: Khar Gymkhana’s talented cueist Ishpreet Singh Chadha was in impressive potting form and constructed breaks of 64 and 101 to inspire KG ‘Legends’ to twin victories over MIG ‘Monks’ in Section-N league, during the second week of the Billiards & Snooker of Maharashtra organized Otters-BSAM Mumbai Snooker League 2019.
His efforts came in the away fixture which Khar Gymkhana won 3-2. In the home game, Khar Gymkhana pulled off a 3-1 win to complete the second win and pick up a bonus point.
Playing with a scratch handicap Ishpreet played in his usual attacking style and struck a run of 64 in defeating MIG Monks Prabdeep Singh (+40) 89-49 in the first frame. But, Faisal Khan also playing with the same scratch handicap was unable to extend Khar Gymkhana’s advantage as he lost to Anuj Soni (+50) 70-108 in the second.
Later in the third frame, Khar Gymkhana’s double pair of Nikhil Saigal and Deepak Khubchandani (+17) defeated the MIG duo of  Gaurav Prabhu and Soham Sawant (+24) 97-39 to regain the lead. Soni once again rose to the challenge and for the second time defeated Khan 72-17 to help MIG draw level at 2-all and take the match to the fifth frame.
In the decider, Ishpreet produced the century effort to tame Soham Sawant (+50) 115-54 to clinch a close win for his team.
In the home match, Khan, Ishpreet and Nikhil Saigal all won their respective singles frames to complete a deserving win. KG Legends now have 5 points the same as MIG Monks who had blanked JVPG Fossils 3-0 in both the matches during the first week. Legends and Fossils, who have yet to win a frame, meet in the concluding league match in the third and final week.
Meanwhile, Bombay Gymkhana’s BG ‘A’ maintained their solid winning form and outclassed MBPT Sports ‘B’ winning both the home and away ties without dropping a frame. They now have 10 points, including 2 bonus points and are through to the knockout round.
