Client’s Brief:
Inspired by life that comes a full circle just like the warm sun
shining amidst nature in all its being. This creation from Hive Home is an
embodiment of light, form, function and a true work of art that blends into the
ambiance it has been designed for.
A statement piece installed white restoring an old heritage
bungalow in Pune; the architect envisioned the living area as a space with
urban modernism with an Indian twist. The shapes of the glass blowouts are
inspired from circular aesthetics in the flooring and furniture layout. With a
design thinking strategy in place with the architect and Hive Home team
invented this halo light of 12 ft. diameter in brass and hand blown glass.
Eight elegantly handcrafted moulds of blown glass were created in the hues of
crackled gold, luster brown, earthen amber, grey, yellow and transparent to
enhance the space.
Challenges:
To achieve the desired vision of the architect and make this
design come to life successfully from the drawing board was a challenge. Making
the ring appear to be floating in the ceiling expanse and making it appear in a
circular format with a wall cutting the circumference was a milestone achieved.
The right, therefore, was crafted in 5 parts with special hardware that was
created to stabilize the weight of the ring
