Top seed Paarth braves injury to enter the 2nd round

Mumbai 15^th August: Top seed Paarth Ambani of Maharashtra braved Injury to take down his unseeded state mate Prakash Aujhi 11-1, 11-3, 11-7 and advance to the 2^nd round of the boys U-15 category at the  Bombay Gymkhana Western Slam (Junior ) organised under the aegis of SRFI and Maharashtra Squash Rackets Association, sponsored by JSW, Raheja Corp, Shoppers Stop, Indospace Logistics and played at the Bombay Gymkhana Squash Courts on Thursday.

Paarth, who was fresh from a tournament win last week was raring to go despite a fracture in the left hand which he picked up in the previous tournament. Despite being at a slight disadvantage, Paarth made short work of the unseeded Prakash on his way to an 11-1, 11-3, 11-7 straight games victory. In another match, Unseeded Abhinav Mehta of Maharashtra fought hard to overcome Aryaman Roy of Delhi who is seeded in the [17/32] category. Abhinav was going head to head with Aryaman right from the 1^st game but Aryaman kept his cool to take the game by a close 11-9 margin. Later, Abhinav bounced back to dominate Aryaman and take the 2^nd game 11-3 to level the scores. Abhinav who had grown in confidence after his 2^nd game victory launched an attack on Aryaman taking the 3^rd and 4^th game 11-2, 11-5 to secure a dominating victory over a higher-ranked opponent.

 In the Boy’s U-17 Category, It was a day of upsets with as many as 4 unseeded players rallying to beat their higher-ranked opponents and carve a place in the 2^nd round. Aryan Lunkad of Maharashtra dominated his statemate Krushna Darvada who is seeded [17/32] 11-9, 11-7, 11-4 while Vishnu Darvada and Arjun Shigavan fought hard to defeat Aditya Raj and Siddharth to advance to the 2^nd round.
