Indian Paper Industry is likely to grow @ 12% per annum for next 5 years and overall paper consumption is projected to increase to 24 million tonne in 2024-25 from 15 million tonnes currently.
World biggest Paper show ‘Paperex2019’ would be inaugurated by Shri Nitin Jairam Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport & Highways of India and Shipping Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the Government of India on 3rd December 2019.
World biggest Paper show ‘Paperex2019’ to be held in New Delhi from 3rd December 2019 to 6th December 2019. With 29 participants from the state, there will be a special state pavilion from Maharashtra this time in Paperex 2019.
Mumbai, 21 November 2019: A curtain raiser of ‘Paperex 2019’, the 14th edition of the world’s largest international exhibition and conference of the Paper Industry was done in Mumbai. There will be a special state pavilion from Maharashtra this time in which 29 Mills and few big listed companies are participating. NR Agarwal, Pudumjee Pulp, BILT etc are few of them. There are more than 300 new MSME companies from Maharasthra which will be coming first time to witness the world class Business to Business experience in this world’s biggest PAPER Show.
Maharashtra has about 49 running paper mills which produce close to 30 Lakhs tonne of paper per annum. In last 3 years Indian export of paper grew from 660,000 tonne to 15,00, 000 tonne. Paper and its allied industries generate close to 5 million jobs in India both directly and indirectly. Paper are mills pre-dominantly set up in rural areas providing large-scale employment and lively hoods directly and indirectly to almost 50 lakh people. A majority of these employees are from lower income group of society i.e. marginal farmers, skilled and semi-skilled workers. Keeping in view of rising pollution levels, Paperex will also conduct a special Session with an emphasis on environment, Green Chemistry and recycling.
While speaking at the curtain raiser Mr J P Narain, VP, Indian Paper & Manufacturers Association and CEO of Century Paper said, “The paper industry is going through a transformational phase and few big paper companies are expanding to meet regional, product or category-specific demands. Overall the consumption of paper is projected to increase to 24 million tonnes in 2024-25 from 15 million tonnes currently. I believe there will be a consolidation within the industry, and we will see more Merger & Acquisitions. Given that this is a manpower intensive industry we expect that these will create jobs both directly and indirectly. Thereby contributing to Nation's development. India's quality paper producers serve the need for Printing, writing, packaging, publishing, notebook and stationery sectors.”
