Mumbai 16th February: Dev Ruparelia has been the find of the tournament as he surprised many by advancing to the semi-finals in the boys U-15 and U-13 categories of the State-Open Sub Junior Badminton Tournament organised by Badminton Gurukul in partnership with TATA Group and played at the District Sports Complex.
Dev started his campaign with a hard-fought victory over Kabir Barot defeating him 30-27 to advance in the boys U-15 tie. Dev was back on court within a matter of hours and showed no signs of slowing down as the 2nd seed defeated unseeded Ahan Raheja 30-25 to secure his 2nd victory. In another match, unseeded Manas Parulekar who defeated the 2nd seed yesterday produced another fine performance to defeat Neel Narkhede 30-27 and cement his place in the semis.
In the Girls U-13 tie, unseeded Yutika Chavan upset 2nd seed Vedika Kulkarni while top seed Siya Singh and unseeded Deepti Bhagvatula advanced to the U-15 semis with easy victories.
