IIHMR University pledges freedom from COVID-19 by unveiling prevention guidelines this 74th Independence Day

  • The event highlighted the need for contributing to the nation-building 

Jaipur, August 17, 2020: As coronavirus pandemic being the pertinent issue in front of our country this Independence Day, IIHMR University, Jaipur, today unveiled a booklet- COVID-19 prevention and control guidelines' for people to follow to curb the spread of the life-threatening virus from its roots. 

Dr. Ashok Agarwal, Founder Trustee, IIHMR, digitally launched the book. Dr. Agarwal said that the Coronavirus pandemic, for the first time, has brought public health at the forefront. About 40 years ago, we decided to work on this subject. Today all the IIHMR graduates are at the front line of the corona war wherever they are posted, and they are helping to a great extent in fighting the corona war. Students are the basis on which this institution stands. He further added that public health measures like social distancing, wearing masks, and sanitization should be thoroughly managed in the population to contain the disease. The basis of health management is public health. Suddenly the demand for health managers has gone up tremendously. In the last six months, we got to know many things about this novel coronavirus, and we are continuously fighting with it.

The booklet highlights the emergence of COVID-19; its control and prevention, measures of home isolation, quarantine, workplace; COVID-19 guidelines for home isolation, domestic and international travels, and workplace setting. It also talks in detail where India stands in this global fight. The book was compiled after extensive research by IHMR University.

"In this booklet, we have outlined some of the revised guidelines suggested by the government of India and WHO. It talks about the various aspects of COVID-19 right from magnitude to its characteristics. We all know that the spread of this infection can be prevented if we adhere to certain guidelines like washing hands frequently, avoiding poorly ventilated places, and large gatherings. These guidelines keep on altering, and it is challenging to keep oneself updated. This book contains the summarized and updated guidelines and information on this disease in one document. The book also talks about the control and containment measures of the disease and the management of mild and moderate cases. We are also planning to upload these guidelines on our website and update them regularly," said Dr. D K Mangal, Professor & Dean Research, IIHMR University, Jaipur

Since the last 35 years of this institution's existence, we are contributing to nation-building through all our efforts to improve the standard of health throughout the population of our country. As a higher education institution, we have our role very clearly defined. The celebration began with Flag Hoisting by Dr. Ashok Agarwal, Founder-Trustee, IIHMR. Followed by the welcome address speech by Dr. PR Sodani Pro President, IIHMR University, Jaipur. IIHMR University congratulates on this auspicious day of Indian history. It pays tribute to the freedom fighters who had sacrificed their lives for future generations and the health care front line workers who are continually working and risking their lives to save the lives of coronavirus patients during the outspread of COVID 19 pandemic.

The hour-long Independence Day celebration came to an end with a high tea.
