“Malayalam is such a difficult language to learn,” says Amol Palekar on the sets of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs

Zee TV’s popular singing reality show, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs has been winning over everyone’s heart courtesy the amazing performances by the wonderful contestants. After a week of the splendid Teacher's Day celebrations, this week the popular reality show is set to celebrate the living legend of Bollywood, Amol Palekar and with the actor taking us on a trip down memory lane, the episode was extra special.

Leaving the judges, jury and even our special guest of honour absolutely mesmerized was the Li'l Champ Aryananda Babu who delivered an outstanding performance to the song ‘Na Jane Kyun Hota Hai Yeh Zindegi Ke Saath’ from the film, Chhoti Si Baat that features Amol Palekar and late Vidya Sinha in the lead roles.

After listening to Aryananda sing, Amol went back in time recollecting the shooting experiences with his co-star which also reminded him of the time he shot for his first Hindi film, Rajnigandha with the late Basu Chatterjee. Paired opposite Vidya Sinha, Amol Palekar revealed that movie was a fresh cast and it was the debut movie for his co-actors as well. “I was somewhat petrified yet extremely excited” revealed Amol.

Adding further, he said, “The movie comprised of a cast who were all relatively new to the industry including our director. Before starting to shoot, our director, the extraordinary mind that he is suggested the main cast to opt for workshops which wasn’t as prevalent back in the day, so we used to gather at his place and do our rehearsals and all the actors developed a camaraderie that we share till date. I feel blessed that we did take him up on that offer because that marked the beginning of a beautiful friendship that is still alive, and I cherish every bit of it. This song reminded me of all those beautiful memories”

Furthermore, Amol Palekar also went on to reminisce the time he had to learn Malayalam for a film after hearing the South Indian contestant, Aryananda’s performance. Talking about his stint with renowned director Balu Mahendra and talented co-actors Purnima and Ambika, Amol said “I remember working on this Malayalam movie directed by Mr. Balu Mahendra and I was fortunate enough to share the screen with the very beautiful Purnima and Ambika. I feel blessed that the movie turned out to be a huge hit but only I know how much effort and hard work I put in to learning and acing the language. Malayalam is such a difficult language to learn, I feel anybody who knows how to speak Malayalam, Hindi would be quite a cake walk for them to learn. If you ask me, I believe Malayalam has is one of the most difficult languages to grasp besides Marathi among the many other prevalent ones in this country.”

With Bollywood’s legendary Amol Palekar in the house, the viewers will surely have gala time, especially with his melodious songs being sung by the supremely talented Li'l Champs. While Saee and Tanishka will deliver a spectacular duet performance on Na Bole Tum na Maine Kuch Kaha, Saksham and Ananya's performance to Golmal Hai Bhai Sab Golmal Hai will surely win everyone's heart. All in all, the upcoming episode of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs will have a lot of melodies, memories and surprises for the viewers.
