The song Mati is the backbone of our film Aadhaar – director Suman Ghosh

After releasing the trailer of the social dramedy Aadhaar, Jio Studios and Drishyam films have released the first song from the film titled – Mati. The song which beautifully encapsulates the essence of the film and celebrates the common man of India has been penned by Amitosh Nagpal, sung by Sukhwinder Singh and composed by Shantanu Moitra.

Talking about the song, director Suman Ghosh says, “The song Mati is the backbone of our film Aadhaar. Aadhaar is the celebration of our true India, Bharat as we make the distinction in the film. This is a story of the aam aadmi of Bharat and bharat ke mati ka ek santan. Mati is the celebration of the true bhartiya insan jo hamare protagonist hain is film ke. The process of making this song was very interesting. I was there for the shoot with Sukhwinderji (Singh, the singer). I always say that Sukhwinderji is the voice of India in a true sense. He has that patriotic flavor. Who else than the combination of Shantanu (Moitra) and Shukhwinderji can produce such a marvel.”

Echoing the same sentiment, actor Vineet Kumar Singh adds, “Mati is one of my favorite songs from Aadhaar and I keep listening to it very often. Amitosh Nagpal has written the melodious lyrics and the song has been sung beautifully by Sukhwinder Singh. The music is soothing too. If you listen to this song in silence, all three intertwined together make the song quite unique. Suman Ghosh’s (the director) idea behind Mati was that, aadhaar hai woh mitti hai, kisi bhi cheez ka aadhaar mitti hai. Jo kaha jata hai ki hum mitti se bane hai aur mitti mein hi mil jate hain. Toh sab kuch agar koi seekh raha hai toh who bhi mitti ka hi hota hai use sikhane wala bhi mitti ka hota hai. Toh sari shrishti ko mitti ki nazar se dekha gaya hai ki, everything is related with mati. So this was the good thought behind this song. I feel that people will like this song. This song takes you into a different world altogether.”

Aadhaar also features an eclectic star cast including Saurabh Shukla, Sanjay Mishra, Raghubir Yadav among others and is slated to release in cinemas across India on February 5^th, 2021.
