New Delhi, May 11th 2021: The BRICS Chamber of Commerce & Industry in association with Sashakt- The Ovarian Cancer Foundation, organized a virtual panel discussion on World Ovarian Cancer Day. The prominent speakers of panel discussion were Rajeev Khandelwal (Actor &Advisory Board Member, Sashakt) Dr. Harit Chaturvedi (Chairman, Max Institute of Oncology),Nishtha Gupta (Cancer Survivor) and Mayshree Bhim, Founder & CEO, GNETWORK108. Panel discussion on World Ovarian Cancer Day was inaugurated by Dr. BBL Madhukar,Director General, BRICS CCI and Chairman, FORE School of Management and Mr. Sameep Shastri ,Vice-Chairman, BRICS CCI. Panel discussion was moderated by Megha Ahuja,Founder- Sashakt- The Ovarian Cancer Foundation.
One in seventy-two women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer in their lifetime. Unfortunately, most cases are diagnosed in later stages, when the prognosis is really poor. However, if diagnosed and treated early, when the cancer is confined to the ovary, the five-year survival rate is over 90 percent. That is why it is imperative that women, their families and the healthcare community recognize the early signs and symptoms of the disease. It is important that women listen to their bodies and watch for early symptoms. There is currently no early detection test for ovarian cancer. The Pap test does not detect ovarian cancer. That's why generating the awareness about the subtle symptoms is of paramount importance.
The session was inaugurated with the welcome address of Dr. BBL Madhukar (Director General, BRICS CCI and Chairman, FORE School of Management), who said, “I am delighted to be part of today’s session. Ovarian cancer is emerging as one of the most common malignancies which are affecting women in India. Through this webinar BRICS CCI wishes to sensitize and spread awareness about the growing fatality risk about ovarian cancer. Also, I would like to congratulate Sashakt foundation for their efforts and commitment in supporting women battling the hazardous disease. I hope with this webinar we will be able to help and drive improvements for ovarian cancer on all fronts – awareness, diagnosis, treatment and quality of life.”
Rajeev Khandelwal said, “The younger lot have a lot to bring to the table. Men don’t like discussing things about women issues at home, hence it is very important that youngsters talk about it as well as identify symptoms. You have to observe symptoms and be pushy.”
Dr. Harit Chaturvedi said, “ Globally more than 80% ovarian cancer is diagnosed in stage III or IV. While there are several tools in breast, colon, lung and few other cancers. Somehow ovarian cancer has remained elusive and no amount of awareness effort has made a difference yet. I am very happy to learn that Sashakt- The Ovarian Cancer Foundation has adopted this orphan cancer. I am very hopeful that your efforts would help bring renewed knowledge and fresh direction in this crusade. We are with you at every step in this cancer war. I want to congratulate you for taking this initiative.”
Nishtha Gupta said, “It is a sly monster, and you cannot imagine what it actually it is. For me personally, I was told almost everything in diagnosis except that I was having Ovarian Cancer. For people who don’t keep a check on their bodies, it comes extremely surprising.”
Mayshree Bhim said, “In south African we are doing a lot to change this status quo, to make change and bring change. Somehow because we feel that man are shamed to be a part of it.That's why we are working towards raising more awareness amongst men through this initiative”
This session was moderated by Megha Ahuja(Founder- Sashakt- The Ovarian Cancer Foundation) said “If we listen to our bodies when it whisper, we won’t have to hear it scream.”
In the closing remarks, Mr. Sameep Shastri (Vice-Chairman, BRICS CCI )stated that, “I on behalf of BRICS CCI wish to thank the panelists and team Sashakt for their time and insights. I believe the session will create awareness among women and eliminate the prevailing myths in the society. And hope that the upcoming technologies, methodologies & advance treatment options backed by strong support of family members, women diagnosed with ovarian cancer can lead quality life and continue reaching for stars and being an inspiration to all around you.”
The highly significant panel discussion was attended by an audience comprising globally recognized oncologists, Cancer survivors, women organizations, members and civil society members.

नई दिल्ली,: शशक्त - द ओवेरियन कैंसर फाउंडेशन के सहयोग से ब्रिक्स चैम्बर ऑफ कॉमर्स एंड इंडस्ट्री ने वर्ल्ड ओवेरियन कैंसर डे पर वर्चुअल पैनल चर्चा का आयोजन किया। पैनल चर्चा के प्रमुख वक्ताओं में जानेमाने अभिनेता और शशक्त के सलाहकार बोर्ड सदस्य राजीव खंडेलवाल , मैक्स इंस्टिट्यूट ऑफ ऑन्कोलॉजी के अध्यक्ष डॉ0 हरित चतुर्वेदी , कैंसर सर्वाइवर निष्ठ गुप्ता और जीनेटवर्क108 के संस्थापक और सीईआ मायाश्री भीम थे। विश्व डिम्बग्रंथि कैंसर दिवस पर पैनल चर्चा का उद्घाटन ब्रिक्स सीसीआई के महानिदेशक और फॉर स्कूल आॅफ मैनेजमेंट के चेयरमैन डॉ0 बीबीएल मधुकर और ब्रिक्स सीसीआइ क्रे उपाध्यक्ष श्री समीप शास्त्री ने किया। शशक्त- द ओवेरियन कैंसर फाउंडेशन के संस्थापक मेघा आहूजा द्वारा पैनल चर्चा संचालित की गई थी। पैनल चर्चा में विश्व स्तर पर मान्यता प्राप्त ऑन्कोलॉजिस्ट, कैंसर सर्वाइवर्स, महिला संगठन, सदस्य और सिविल सोसायटी सदस्य शामिल थे।
सत्तर में से एक महिला को अपने जीवनकाल में डिम्बग्रंथि के कैंसर का पता चलता है। दुर्भाग्य से, अधिकांश मामलों का निदान बाद के चरणों में किया जाता है, जब रोग का निदान वास्तव में मुस्किल होता है। हालांकि, यदि निदान और जल्दी इलाज किया जाता है, जब कैंसर अंडाशय तक ही सीमित है, तो पांच साल की जीवित रहने की दर 90 प्रतिशत से अधिक है। इसलिए यह जरूरी है कि महिलाएं, उनके परिवार और स्वास्थ्य सेवा समुदाय बीमारी के शुरुआती लक्षणों और लक्षणों को पहचानें। यह महत्वपूर्ण है कि महिलाएं अपने शरीर को सुनें और शुरुआती लक्षणों को देखें। वर्तमान में डिम्बग्रंथि के कैंसर का कोई प्रारंभिक पता लगाने वाला परीक्षण नहीं है। पैप परीक्षण डिम्बग्रंथि के कैंसर का पता नहीं लगाता है। इसीलिए सूक्ष्म लक्षणों के बारे में जागरूकता पैदा करना सर्वोपरि है।
सत्र का उद्घाटन डॉ0 बीबीएल मधुकर महानिदेशक, ब्रिक्स सीसीआई और अध्यक्ष, फोर स्कूल ऑफ मैनेजमेंट के स्वागत भाषण के साथ किया गया, जिन्होंने कहा, “आज के सत्र का हिस्सा बनकर मुझे खुशी है। डिम्बग्रंथि के कैंसर सबसे आम विकृतियों में से एक के रूप में उभर रहे हैं जो भारत में महिलाओं को प्रभावित कर रहे हैं। इस वेबिनार के माध्यम से ब्रिक्स सीसीआई डिम्बग्रंथि के कैंसर के बारे में बढ़ते घातक जोखिम के बारे में जागरूक और फैलाना चाहता है। साथ ही, मैं खतरनाक बीमारी से जूझ रही महिलाओं के समर्थन में उनके प्रयासों और प्रतिबद्धता के लिए शशांक फाउंडेशन को बधाई देना चाहूंगा। मुझे उम्मीद है कि इस वेबिनार के साथ हम सभी मोर्चों - जागरूकता, निदान, उपचार और जीवन की गुणवत्ता पर डिम्बग्रंथि के कैंसर के सुधार में मदद कर सकेंगे। ”
राजीव खंडेलवाल ने कहा, “ युवाओं को सामने लाने के लिए बहुत कुछ है। पुरुष घर पर महिलाओं के मुद्दों के बारे में चर्चा करना पसंद नहीं करते हैं, इसलिए यह बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है कि युवा इसके बारे में बात करें और लक्षणों की पहचान करें। आपको लक्षणों का निरीक्षण करना होगा । ”
डॉ0 हरित चतुर्वेदी ने कहा, “विश्व स्तर पर 80 प्रतिषत से अधिक डिम्बग्रंथि के कैंसर का निदान चरण प्प्प् या प्ट में किया जाता है। जबकि स्तन, बृहदान्त्र, फेफड़े और कुछ अन्य कैंसर में कई उपकरण हैं। किसी तरह डिम्बग्रंथि का कैंसर मायावी बना हुआ है और जागरूकता के प्रयास की मात्रा में अभी तक कोई फर्क नहीं पड़ा है। मुझे यह जानकर बहुत खुशी हुई कि शशक्त- द ओवेरियन कैंसर फाउंडेशन ने इस अनाथ कैंसर को अपनाया है। मुझे बहुत उम्मीद है कि आपके प्रयासों से इस धर्मयुद्ध में नए सिरे से ज्ञान और नई दिशा लाने में मदद मिलेगी। इस कैंसर युद्ध में हम हर कदम पर आपके साथ हैं। मैं आपको इस पहल के लिए बधाई देना चाहता हूं। ”
निष्ठा गुप्ता ने कहा, “यह एक धूर्त राक्षस के तरह है, और आप कल्पना नहीं कर सकते कि यह वास्तव में क्या है। मेरे लिए व्यक्तिगत रूप से, मुझे निदान में लगभग सब कुछ बताया गया था सिवाय इसके कि मुझे ओवेरियन कैंसर हो रहा था। जो लोग अपने शरीर पर चेक नहीं रखते हैं, उनके लिए यह बेहद आश्चर्यजनक है। ”
मायश्री भीम ने कहा, “दक्षिण अफ्रीकी में हम इस स्थिति को बदलने, बदलाव लाने और बदलाव लाने के लिए बहुत कुछ कर रहे हैं। किसी तरह क्योंकि हमें लगता है कि मनुष्य इसका एक हिस्सा बनने के लिए शर्मिंदा हैं। इसलिए हम इस विषय पर पुरुषों में अधिक जागरूकता बढ़ाने की दिशा में काम कर रहे हैं ‘‘
मेघा आहूजा (संस्थापक- शशक्त- द ओवेरियन कैंसर फाउंडेशन) ने कहा कि ‘‘अगर हम शरीर को सुनते हैं,और षरीर के अन्दर छोटी भी बदलाव को ध्यान में रखें तो हमें डिम्बग्रंथि के कैंसर के बारे में षुरू में ही पता चल सकता है ै।‘‘
वेविनार के समापन पर ब्रिक्स सीसीआई के उपाध्यक्ष श्री समीप शास्त्री ने कहा कि, “मैं ब्रिक्स सीसीआई की ओर से पैनलिस्टों और टीम शशक्त को उनके समय और अंतर्दृष्टि के लिए धन्यवाद देना चाहता हूं। मेरा मानना है कि सत्र महिलाओं में जागरूकता पैदा करेगा और समाज में प्रचलित मिथकों को खत्म करेगा। और आशा करते हैं कि आने वाली प्रौद्योगिकियां, कार्यप्रणाली और अग्रिम उपचार के विकल्प परिवार के सदस्यों के मजबूत समर्थन द्वारा समर्थित हैं, डिम्बग्रंथि के कैंसर से पीड़ित महिलाएं गुणवत्ता जीवन का नेतृत्व कर सकती हैं और और आपके चारोंओर अन्य के लिए प्रेरणा बन सकती हैं। ”
