Rutuja Sakpal the 21-year-old athlete from from Pen, Raigad, who won the Ladki Hoon, Lad Sakti Hoon Pink Run held on February 27, has been assured of financial support and assistance for two years by the Mumbai Regional Congress Committee to further her athletic career.
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, MRCC President Bhai Jagtap committed to taking care of Rutuja’s training, nutrition kitting expenses for the next two years, after which a further review would be done and the support extended, if necessary.
Speaking at a function organized to felicitate the winners of the Pink Run, Bhai Jagtap said, “Our winner Rutuja is an epitome of the phrase, ladki hoon, lad sakti hoon. Sleeping on the streets of Mumbai, getting to the start line and completing the race in 19.3 minutes is a tremendous achievement and Rutuja has made us proud. After her stupendous performance, I, on behalf of MRCC, have decided to adopt her as an athlete and take care of her training, nutrition and kitting for the next two years.”
The occasion also saw the MRCC handing over 30 bicycles to girl students, to ease their daily commute to and from their place of study. The bicycles were purchased from the registration fees that were collected from the participants of the Pink Run
