Mumbai, March 8th: Virgin Music Group – the world’s leading independent partner to
labels and artists and Play DMF – one of the most dynamic music labels that exist currently
in the Indian music industry and heralded by Anshul Garg - have announced the release of
their latest single, "Yimmy Yimmy”. The dance track is the result of a cross-cultural
collaboration between Rajat Nagpal and talented French R&B singer, Tayc. The immensely
popular Shreya Ghoshal joins Tayc in the vocals, and the stunning Jacqueline Fernandes
features in a scintillating video.
Yimmy Yimmy comes after the resounding triumph of "Guli Matta”- Virgin Music Group
and Play DMF’s previous collaboration, which was a chartbuster worldwide with nearly 300
million views across YouTube.
The idea of the collaboration for Yimmy Yimmy was the brainchild of Anshul Garg from Play
DMF who has been at the forefront of amplifying I-pop music to the world, getting some of
the best talents from all over to collaborate with the biggest names in the Indian music
business. Virgin Music Group has long term partners with Play DMF, in this regard.
The professional union of Rajat Nagpal, music producer Nyadjiko and Tayc along with the
vocals of Shreya Ghoshal ensures a track that transcends borders and resonates globally,
creating a vibrant fusion of culture. The lyrics are by Rana Sotal and Tayc. The music video,
stylishly mounted, features the alluring Jacqueline Fernandez, and is directed by hot-shot
choreographer duo – Piyush-Shazia.
Jacqueline Fernandez expressed, “I just loved the vibe of Yimmy Yimmy the moment i heard
it. Its catchy, its upbeat and its one that will propel you to get up and dance. And to have the
combined talents of Shreya Ghoshal and TayC on vocals, and a sizzling video by the uber-
cool Piyush-Shazia, made it easy for me to say Yes to Yimmy Yimmy. I thank Play DMF for
getting me this opportunity, and i can’t wait for audiences to see the track”
Shreya Ghoshal shared her experience, saying,“I always look forward to collaborations with
artists from all over the world. We can bring the uniqueness of our cultures to the mix, and
the result is always special. Working with Rajat Nagapal, and collaborating with the very
talented French artist TayC, for Yimmy Yimmy, is a special track. This is my second
collaboration with Play DMF after the immensely popular Guli Mata, and I am excited to see
how my listeners react to this.”
Anshul Garg, visionary entrepreneur of Play DMF, shares his insight, "The genesis of
'Yimmy Yimmy' was rooted in a vision to blend diverse musical styles and create a track with
global appeal. India is the powerhouse of music talent and its about time such collaborations
arise from here. We conceived the idea of an international collaboration with Rajat, Tayc,
Shreya Ghoshal, and Virgin Music Group happily came on board to make this a reality. With
Jacqueline’s presence, we have a world class product in our hands. With 'Yimmy Yimmy,'
we're not merely creating music; we're weaving a cultural mosaic that speaks to audiences
across continents."
Amit Sharma, Country Manager, Virgin Music Group, India & South Asia said, “Anshul &
Play DMF are big picture producers and we saw this result in incredible success with Gulli
Mata. It’s now time for another cross-border collaboration bringing the best musical talent
together in Yimmy Yimmy. Dance is a proven form of music expression and I’m sure Yimmy
Yimmy will showcase that to the global soundscape amply. Virgin Music Group India is
committed to working on global collaborations that arise from India, and taking popular
Indi-pop music to markets around the world.”
"Yimmy Yimmy" is poised to be the next definitive party track. The song is now available for
everywhere, including all music OTT platforms.
