NEW DELHI, 29th August 2024: Ms Meeta Rajivlochan, Secretary, Department of Youth Affairs, Govt of India today said that the Indian youth have energy and enthusiasm along with idealism which are the two important attributes that are critical for co-creating a vibrant future.
Addressing the session on ‘Building the New India: Role of Our Young Leaders’, during the FICCI Young Leaders Awards 2024, Ms Rajivlochan added that if these combinations (energy and enthusiasm along with idealism) can be used by young entrepreneurs to highlight the importance of ethics in business along with dharma. “Today, the most important commodity in business is trust. Business is all about building brands, trust and for that we need robust institutional mechanisms going forward. Lack of trust leads to very significant costs for the business so robust mechanisms are the means to generate trust,” she emphasized.
The Secretary further stated that if we can build robust institutional mechanisms to generate trust, then we can transform the country including the economic landscape of the country. “Role of young entrepreneurs is very important in this,” she asserted.
Speaking on the quality standards, Secretary Ms Rajivlochan stated that in India, the task of building standards has been vested with government and at times this creates many dysfunctionalities in the interface between the government and business. “This is something that the business can do, and this is where young entrepreneurs can step in,” she added.
Mr Shashwat Goenka, Chairman, FICCI Young Leaders Forum and Vice Chairman, RP Sanjiv Goenka Group said that the young generation holds immense potential in every section of our society. “Young people who are pushing the boundaries of innovation, challenging the status quo, and disrupting traditional industries with fresh ideas and cutting-edge technology. The willingness to take risks, think out of the box and challenge conventional wisdom is what propels progress,” he added.
Mr Rishabh Shroff, Co-Chair, FICCI Young Leaders Forum and Co-Head, Private Client & Head, International Business Development, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas said it is important to build passion in the next generation for running the family-owned business through role modelling, storytelling, etc.
