Navi Mumbai, 12th September 2024: This weekend, head to Nexus Seawoods Mall to celebrate the vibrant festival of Onam on 14th and 15th of September 2024! In collaboration with Seawoods Malayali Samajam, the mall is hosting 'Onam Opulence 2024' where guests will be able to witness the breathtaking beauty of a 64 sqm Pookkalam (a traditional floral arrangement, central to Onam), crafted from 250 kg of colorful flowers. Along with the floral decoration, guests will also get a chance to see the traditional and cultural performances including Theyyam Dance performance, a first for Navi Mumbai, offering a visual feast for guests and visitors alike.
Theyyam Dance is a ritualistic art form from North Malabar, Kerala, known for its vivid costumes and intense devotion. Making its debut in Navi Mumbai, this performance will be a must-see highlight. The cultural activities will start with the traditional Chenda Melam, followed by a procession led by King Maveli, and continuing with a variety of dance performances, including Thiruvathirakali, Mohiniyattam, and the majestic Kathakali. The day will culminate in a medley of all performances.
Onam, a festival deeply rooted in mythology and agrarian practices, symbolizes prosperity, unity, and cultural heritage.
