300 CLAY POTS PLACED BY AN ARTIST IN SOUTH MUMBAI TO SAVE BIRDS

There are a lot of days that we observe and acknowledge as a gesture of how that very day has made a difference to this world. A day that usually goes underrated is World Environment Day.
"You take care of the earth and earth will take care of you." This year, we came across a thoughtful activity that does absolute justice to the quote. One of the most versatile abstract artists of the city, Krupa Shah, redefined how one can simply contribute towards nature, by placing 300 clay pots to quench the thirst of birds during soaring heat.
These clay pots were filled with drinking water for birds who fly in search of water. They were placed across South Mumbai covering areas like Hanging Garden, Chowpatty, Marines Lines, Worli, and Haji Ali.
During summers, there are many birds that die or suffocate of dehydration and lose their ability to fly. There are visibly, many species that have either migrated or died due to this weather. This is an alarming issue, which needs to be addressed by sensitising people.
Krupa took care of the most intricate details in here. She used clay pots to make sure the water remains cool and harmless for the birds. To add her artistic touch, some of these pots were hand crafted and carved by Krupa, a month prior.
Shah also made sure to coordinate with the local authorities, gardener’s and local shop owners by legitimately paying them fees for ensuring the water is filled every single day. She also intends to check this periodically.
Mumbai’s heat is not only terrible for us, but for birds as well. Let us do our bit for the environment and place a bowl of water in our balconies or on the windowpanes for birds. A small, kind gesture can save a lovely bird’s life.
Krupa Shah, a self-made abstract artist, and a philanthropist has always loved nature and has conducted many such activities towards environmental awareness.
