Independence Day, some of India’s biggest digital stars, SumeetVyas, Amol
Parashar, Rohan
Joshi, Angira
Dhar and Harnidh
Kaur came
together for a new video by youth platform Yuva (@weareyuvaa), to
address the most urgent problem on the internet: trolling.
The
video, called ‘You’re Gonna Get Trolled’, is a cheeky and quirky take on
trolling, and tries to put across the point that the reason we get trolled, is
because we do it too, however unintentional it may be. It emphasizes choosing
kindness and love online, otherwise we’re gonna get trolled too! The stars in
the video ask a pertinent question to us today: Can we #FreeIndiaFromTrolling?
The
digital came together for the video earlier in the week, when they celebrated
International Youth Day or ‘Yuvaa Day’ with the Yuvaa community on social
media, on 12th August.
YouTuber Prajakta
Koli also
joined in, and they discussed relevant youth problems such as mental health,
struggles of shifting a career path, gender equality and being responsible
young people of India. International Youth Day is a United Nations’ initiative,
and Yuvaa celebrated the day to support the UN Sustainable Development Goals
(SDGs).
The
video builds on the messaging of encouraging the youth to being responsible and
thinking before posting something online.
