‐ HMIL awarded at the IEI Centenary Industry Excellence Awards ceremony in New Delhi
Mumbai, November 8, 2019: Hyundai Motor India Limited was awarded the ‘IEI Industry Excellence Award for the year 2019 by the Institution of Engineers (India) recently. IEI identifies and felicitates companies across sectors for their best-in-class innovations, success stories and stellar performances every year. Mr. Ganesh Mani S (Director, Production) and Mr. JH Lee (Executive Director, Production) received this award from Honorable Minister for Road Transport & Highways of India - Shri. Nitin Gadkari, Prof (Dr.) KK Aggarwal - Chairman of National Board of Accreditation and Dr. Gunaraja T M – President, Institution of Engineers.
15 companies from various sectors were handpicked for this top honor under 9 categories. HMIL is the only auto major to be recognized, on itsmaiden attempt, for demonstrating the highest order of industry business excellence under the Rs.5000 Cr. and above turnover category. The IEI committee and jury assessed the participants based on their financial performance, manufacturing excellence, innovation, corporate governance, R&D, safety, quality, occupational health, sustainability practices and CSR initiatives.

1. Application of Industry 4.0 solutions: VR training to employees, installation of predictive-maintenance alert system, leveraging data analytics to sustain the 100% operational efficiency, among others
2. Green Initiatives: 76% renewable energy (wind, co-gen, solar) used [Only auto major in India to do so], Regenerative Thermal Oxidation (RTO) unit to reduce VoC emission, 100 % LED lighting used, among others

The Institution of Engineers (India) [IEI] is a statutory body to promote and advance the engineering and technology, established in 1920 and incorporated by Royal Charter in 1935.
