Project Management Institute Launches Its Ninth Chapter in India, the PMI Gujarat Chapter

The objective of the newly formed chapter is to advocate for project management within the state of Gujarat

Mumbai,  8 October 2020: Project Management Institute (PMI), the world's leading association for the project management profession, is pleased to announce the launch of a new chapter in Gujarat (Gujarat State, including Silvassa and Diu Daman).

Headquartered in Ahmedabad, PMI Gujarat Chapter’s aim is to advocate for the project management profession across industry, academia, community and government. The objective is to provide a platform to share best practices, collaborate, educate, upskill, and network for members, leaders, and project professionals; thereby advancing careers of the project management community, and improving organizational success.

"We are excited to announce the launch of our new chapter in Gujarat. PMI's expansion to a new geographical region with huge potential will enable us to engage and focus with stakeholders there in a precise and concerted manner. This milestone has been possible only due to the dedication of our volunteers,” said Dr Srini Srinivasan, PMI Managing Director, India.

Gujarat has achieved the distinction of being one of the most industrially developed states in the nation. Six cities in Gujarat, namely Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Dahod, and Gandhinagar, are shortlisted to be transformed into Smart Cities under the central government's Smart City Mission.

Given this background, with the newly formed chapter, PMI's central focus is to create awareness of the importance of project management principles, frameworks and techniques among local businesses, universities, professional associations, and social initiatives in the Gujarat region. PMI will also emphasize the development of customized quality programs, as per regional project needs. The chapter will be a gateway for strengthening the state’s project management resources through local programs and initiatives.

“Our ultimate goal is to build a platform to bring together project professionals for knowledge sharing, networking, volunteering for the project management profession, and eventually, the societal good,” added Dr Srini Srinivasan, PMI Managing Director, India.

PMI Gujarat Chapter is the ninth chapter of PMI in India, following in the successful footsteps of eight chapters across the country (Bengaluru, Chennai, Kerala, Mumbai, North India, Hyderabad, Pune, and West Bengal).

PMI is the largest project management membership organization globally, and has grown considerably over the years. Today, PMI has over 300 chartered and potential chapters across the globe, all led by PMI volunteers. The founding members of the newly formed PMI Gujarat Chapter are Dr. Sanjay Buch (Surat),  Prerak Shah (Ahmedabad), Mr. Rajit Shah (Ahmedabad), Mr. Suketu Modi (Ahmedabad), Mr. Manan Patel (Ahmedabad), Ms. Minaxi Vaishnav (Vadodara), Mr. Utkarsh Pundlik (Vadodara), Mr. Rajesh Panchal (Vadodara), Mr. Vrushank Buch (Vadodara).
