Biiggbang Amusement brings forth India’s first Sci-fi short film
After a series of successful films like Cakewalk, Season's Greetings,
Rickshawala and Broken Frame, Assorted Motion Pictures is proud to announce
their next venture 'KalaBai From Byculla' by acclaimed filmmaker Saumitra
Singh. Kalabai From Byculla, the country’s first short length mythological film
deals with the myth and mystery of supernatural power. The film stars Sharib
Hashmi and Shruti Bapna, in the lead and was shot entirely in Mumbai. The
film revolves around the life of a struggling artist who works hard to make his
ends meet only to have a life-changing chance to turn everything around when
Kalabai enters his life. The film is laced with intriguing elements of mystery
that will keep the audience glued to their screens. This marks Biiggbang
Amusement’s first Hindi film collaboration.

Thrilled about the collaboration, Rinku Biswas, Head of Marketing,

Known for his acting chops, the lead actor Sharib Hashmi says,
"This film will always be special to me. I really want to thank Assorted
Motion Pictures and my director Saumitra for believing in me and the subject.
In today's time when the world is rushing for bloodbath content, Kalabai From
Byculla seems like a whiff of fresh air. I also thank Biiggbang for providing
us with a platform where we can showcase our work and I am truly excited about
this association."
Acclaimed filmmaker Saumitra Singh in his statement adds, "I am
grateful to Assorted Motion Pictures and Jack N Jill Pictures for entrusting me
with this film. For any independent director, it's very difficult to find a
good producer who would stand by his vision. I would give credit to Shashwat
Joshi ji and Ram Kamal Mukherjee for coming forth in making Kalabai From
Byculla. Working with Sharib Hashmi and Shruti Bapna was a great experience
because they both come with their knowledge of good cinema. And collaborating
with such talents always enhances the final product."
Producer Shashwat Joshi from Jack N Jill Pictures feels proud to be
associated with this film. "Saumitra is a talented director. We often come
across young makers who are not sure about the visuals. They might end up
writing good stories, but eventually, they make a mess when it comes to the
execution of the plot. But while working with Saumitra I realized that he is a
hands-on maker," added Joshi.
Producer Ram Kamal Mukherjee, on behalf of Assorted Motion Pictures,
says, "I have seen Saumitra's earlier work and he is an extremely talented
director. When he narrated the story, I was impressed with the simplicity. I
like people who can express their thoughts in a certain frame of time. Being a
director myself, I find that quality extremely rare in today's time. I thank my
friend Yash Jain who introduced me to Saumitra and his body of work. I am glad
that we are gearing up to showcase this film exclusively on BiiggBang."
