Not a day at the Dunder-Mifflin Paper Company, Scranton can be complete without the hilarious and super clever pranks pulled off by Jim Halpert. Most moments in the mockumentary sitcom are absolutely iconic and that’s what makes The Office a rare gem! One of the driving forces of making the show what it is, is undoubtedly the frenemy pairing of Jim and Dwight that is wonderfully showcased with a litany of pranks that become better by the episode. But mind you, while most of Jim’s high jinks were a success, there have been a few that even backfired. Let’s look at our top picks for the best pranks that are bound to take you on a laughter-riot. To witness these, make sure you tune in to Comedy Central – India’s favorite stop for the best of international comedy shows – every Monday to Friday at 9 pm.
Let’s look at our top picks for the best pranks that are bound to take you on a laughter-riot!
Asian Jim/Pseudo Jim
Dwight is very aware of the tricks played by Jim in the office being the one these are often and always pitted toward. In one of the many of such instances, Jim hires Steve, his Asian actor friend to dress up like him, and replicate his behaviour in the office for a day. Dwight realizes that he is not Jim and starts questioning him. He freaks out after his interrogation when he finds out that “Jim” knows all the personal details of Jim including his password. To take it up to a whole new level, Pam even gives Steve a peck on his lips!
Faxes from the Future
Jim never misses a chance to mess with Dwight and distance can’t be a bar for him to stop. On being shifted to the Stamford branch, he manages to make shocking revelations to Dwight. He pulls this off by sweeping some of Dwight’s office stationery to fashion ‘warnings from the future’! Jim faxes Dwight addressing the notes by saying, ‘Dwight from the future,’ with false predictions to mess with him – which he believes without question. One of the faxes was a death note for Dwight stating the reason for the same – too far, a true Office fan will think not!
Dwight’s Retribution
While Dwight is often the victim of Jim’s fun, and sometimes cruel larks, there have been times when he turned to be a prankster himself. One of our favorites would be the time Jim tried to impress the new, no-nonsense boss, Charles Miner. To embarrass his nemesis who knows nothing about soccer, Dwight fixes a soccer match between Jim and Charles. Dwight also joins to add to Jim’s embarrassment. During the game, Jim tries to stay away from the ball and ducks when Charles kicks it right at his face. He escapes, but the ball hits Phyllis Lapin squarely in her mouth and she swallowed a tooth!
Are You Ready for Some Meatballs?
Jim admits pranking Dwight is one of his most cherished guilty pleasures, especially with an audience. This time the audience for the same is none other than the grumpy Stanley Hudson. Jim fills Dwight’s desk with heaps of meatballs and even puts his stapler inside one, eliciting cackles from Stanley. But it turns out that Stanley and Dwight were both in on it, with Jim spending tons of money for the meatballs while they eat it for free! This is one of the few episodes when Stanley actually seems happy; that in itself is a treat. And of course, Jim getting pranked is the cherry on the cake!
Dwight’s List of Complaints
In one of the episodes, Michael Scott tries to resolve conflicts in the office. But who has more conflicts than Jim and Dwight? Michael reads out the complaints Dwight has written against Jim – all his co-workers calling him Dwayne for one day, his computer changing the word ‘Dwight’ to ‘Diapers’, and even one where he accused Jim of putting gloves full of blood in his drawer to convince him that he has murdered someone!
Tune into Comedy Central to watch one of the best comedy shows ever, The Office, every Monday to Friday at 9 pm with two episodes back-to-back!
