Pune, 17th August: On Sunday, 4th August 2024, the Maharashtra State Traders Action Committee organized a statewide conference at The Poona Merchants Chamber, Pune, for traders dealing in agricultural produce markets and food grains across Maharashtra. In this conference, it was decided to organize regional traders' meetings through the Action Committee across all six revenue divisions of Maharashtra. Accordingly, yesterday, on 16th August 2024, a state-level traders' meeting was organized in Sangli by the Maharashtra State Traders Action Committee and the Sangli Chamber of Commerce.
The meeting saw the presence of Lalit Gandhi, President of Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce, Industries, and Agriculture (Mumbai); Jitendra Shah, President of Federation of Associations of Maharashtra (Mumbai); and Director Pritesh Shah; along with representatives from the Chamber of Associations of Maharashtra Industries and Trade (Mumbai); The Grain, Rice, and Oilseeds Merchants Association (Mumbai); Action Committee Coordinator Rajendra Bathia; The Poona Merchants Chamber (Pune) President Raikumar Nahar; Secretary Ishwar Nahar; Director Sandeep Shah; as well as President of Sangli Chamber of Commerce Amarsingh Desai and his office bearers. The event also had a large presence of office bearers and traders from Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Karad, Palus, Islampur, Jath, Shirala, and Miraj.
To draw the government's attention to traders' issues like the cancellation of cess in agricultural produce markets, no changes in the Weights and Measures Act, and resolving difficulties in the GST law, a one-day symbolic strike on 27th August 2024 has been confirmed. The markets in Kolhapur, Sangli, Karad, and Satara will observe a complete shutdown. On this day, memorandums regarding traders' issues will be submitted to all public representatives and government officials.

Additionally, on Sunday, 18th August 2024, a traders' meeting is organized in Solapur, where traders' associations and traders from Solapur, Dharashiv, Latur, Karmala, Akluj, Pandharpur, Karmala, and Akkalkot will participate in large numbers, according to information provided by Maharashtra State Traders Action Committee Coordinator Rajendra Bathia.
