ISSUED BY SHRI PRITESH SHAH, DIRECTOR GENERAL OF FEDERATION OF ASSOCIATIONS OF MAHARASTRA

FAM/2024-20 ISSUED BY SHRI PRITESH SHAH, DIRECTOR GENERAL OF FEDERATION OF ASSOCIATIONS OF MAHARASHTRA (FAM)

APMC & ALL OTHER MARKETS TO REMAIN CLOSED ON AUGUST 27 DUE TO VARIOUS TRADE ISSUES
A meeting of various trade associations under Maharashtra Rajya Kruti Samiti (MRKS) was held on August 4th in Pune. It was decided to travel across Maharashtra, engage with traders, and mobilize them for this Bandh. In continuation of this effort, meetings were held on August 16th in Sangli, August 17th in Karad, and August 18th in Solapur to discuss the issues faced by traders in the APMC market.
The meetings were attended by prominent leaders including Jitendra Shah, President of FAM, Pritesh Shah, Director General of FAM, Bhimjibhai Bhanushali, President of GROMA, Raikumar Nahar, President & Rajendra Bathia, IPP PMC & Convenor of MRKS, Suresh Chikhali, Rajendra Rathi from Solapur, Sharad Shah from Sangli Chamber of Commerce, and Lalit Gandhi from the MCCAI, along with all office bearers and members of major trading associations from the nearby vicinities of these three cities.
During these meetings, various issues were discussed, such as:
- Lack of basic amenities in the APMC market
- 1% APMC cess charge on trade transactions in APMC areas should be abolished , since cess is charged even if the transactions are between traders or with importers
- GST law discrepancies affecting trade
- Difficulties in online trade
- Increasing cybercrime
- Issues related to legal metrology
Despite several representations and meetings with government officials, no concrete solutions have been found to date, leading to growing frustration among the trader community.
Therefore, it has been decided to observe a one-day token BANDH of all traders on August 27, 2024, throughout the state, if the government does not respond positively. This strike is also supported by prominent traders' associations across the country.
In this regard, Bhimjibhai Bhanushali, President of GROMA, and Jitendra Shah, President of FAM, have stated that if the government does not respond appropriately, the one-day token strike on August 27, 2024, will be followed by further actions to be decided on that day.

Warm Regards,
FOR FEDERATION OF ASSOCIATIONS OF MAHARASHTRA
Pritesh Shah
(Director General)
