Brinda Dayal clinches grand double crowns
The Mumbai player Brinda was in impressive form and called the shots against Ahmedabad’s Aarti Soni who caved in without putting up much of a fight in the Ladies 30+ final. Brinda served well and hit some fine winners to outplay her Ahmedabad opponent Aarti and marched to a convincing 8-1 victory.
Earlier, Brinda combined perfectly with Aarti to win the doubles final. The duo of Brinda and Aarti overcame the spirited challenge from the Indore pairing of Neelam Chopra and Kashish by 8-4 scoreline.
Meanwhile, Neelam Chopra of Indore finally tasted success as she claimed the Ladies 35+ singles crown. In the final, Neelam staved off the spirited challenge from Ahmedabad’s Aarti Soni by a 8-4 margin.
Results - Ladies 30+ singles (semi-finals): Brinda Dayal (Mumbai) beat Neelam Chopra (Indore) 8-2; Aarti Soni (Ahmedabad) beat Dr. Jyotsana Patel (Mumbai) 8-1. Final: Brinda Dayal (Mumbai) beat Aarti Soni (Ahmedabad) 8-1.
Ladies 35+ singles (semi-finals): Neelam Chopra (Indore) beat Rajshree Jaiswal (Nagpur) 8-0; Aarti Soni (Ahmedabad) beat Geeta Vyas (Surat) 8-2. Final:Neelam Chopra (Indore) beat Aarti Soni (Ahmedabad) 8-4.
Ladies doubles (semi-finals): Neelam Chopra (Indore)/ Kashish (Indore) beat Adelaide Gomes (Ahmedabad )/Riddhi Bhatti (Ahmedabad) 7-2; Arti Soni (Ahmedabad)/ Brinda Dayal (Mumbai) beat Geeta Vyas (Surat)/ Rajshree Jaiswal (Nagpur) 7-3. Final: Arti Soni (Ahmedabad)/ Brinda Dayal (Mumbai) beat Neelam Chopra (Indore)/Kashish (Indore) 8-4.
