Apollo Navi Mumbai Conducts A Workshop On Complex Angioplasty Techniques

Rahul Gupta, Dr. M.V. Reddy, Dr. Rajesh Matta, and the esteemed Dr. Masahisa Yamane, three patients who had faced the bleak reality of severe heart conditions were given a new lease on life. These patients, burdened by the weight of uncertainty, found hope and healing in the hands of these compassionate professionals. In just 48 hours, they were not only treated successfully but also discharged, ready to embrace life anew. This workshop was a testament to the power of advanced medical care combined with heartfelt human touch, illuminating the path to a brighter, healthier future for all.

Dr. Masahisa Yamane praised the infrastructure and advanced equipment at Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai, noting that its expertise and resources are on par with the best in the world. The hospital features cutting-edge technologies, including Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS), Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Rotational Atherectomy (ROTA), and Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL). This collaboration with Dr. Yamane exemplifies the hospital's commitment to integrating international expertise and advanced technology to enhance patient care.

“Coronary artery disease is a major health concern in India and globally. Hosting this workshop has been a deeply humbling experience, allowing us to offer our patients the latest advancements in complex angioplasty,” shared Dr. Rahul Gupta - Senior Consultant in Cardiology Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai who led this workshop. “This less invasive procedure is not just a medical intervention; it's a lifeline. For three patients with severe coronary artery disease and fully blocked arteries, who could not undergo open-heart bypass surgery, this treatment has given them a second chance at life. One patient, in particular, expressed that if bypass surgery had been necessary, he would not have been able to continue his work, affecting his ability to support his family. This procedure has been nothing short of miraculous, restoring their hope and quality of life. The profound impact on their lives and the overwhelming patient satisfaction fill us with renewed hope and inspiration, driving us towards a healthier future for all.”."

Complex angioplasty offers many benefits for patients with severe or complicated coronary artery disease. It restores blood flow to the heart muscle, reducing symptoms of angina and lowering the risk of a heart attack. It enhances the quality of life with patients often experiencing increased energy levels, less chest pain, and greater capacity for physical activities. It offers hope for patients who cannot undergo bypass surgery due to age or existing comorbidities, providing a less invasive alternative to open-heart surgery, with potentially shorter recovery times.

Mr Arunesh Punetha-Regional CEO Western Region, Apollo Hospitals said, “We are immensely proud to have hosted this transformative workshop that brought together leading cardiologists and interventional specialists to tackle the critical issue of treating fully blocked heart arteries. Apollo Hospitals remains dedicated to advancing healthcare through initiatives like these, which foster collaboration and knowledge sharing within the medical community. Each patient whose life has been saved or improved through complex angioplasty is a testament to our commitment and a source of profound pride for the entire Apollo family. Witnessing patients reclaim their lives fills us with renewed hope and drives our mission for a healthier future for all.”
