Master Chef Bala Subramanian has created an exotic menu to satisfy the discerning customer and has personally helped source the authentic ingredients from down south. Chef Bala started his illustrious career with Welcom Group - Chola Sheraton & Park Sheraton. He later moved to Singapore and is currently working as Master Chef with The Orchid Hotel - Mumbai since 1999. Under his stewardship South of Vindhyas has won many appreciation & accolades and known as the best South Indian restaurant in Mumbai.
South of Vindhyas at The Orchid Hotel Mumbai is now hosting the annual Vishu Sadya with diverse flavours and delicacies from the rich culinary heritage of Kerala. The three days Grand feast laboriously crafted under master expertise of Chef Bala and his team that includes appetizing delicacies authentically served in plantain leaf laced plates.
The restaurant is all set to welcome their guests with traditional decorations like rangoli and “Samay”, an inauguration lamp common during auspicious ceremonies in South India. A boat decorated with spices stand proud with traditionally dressed hostess waiting at doorstep to welcome the guests.
Patrons will be floored to a delectable food starting with south special welcome drinks Kachiya Moru and Panakam. Varieties of Pachadi like Beetroot, Manga, Carrot etc., accompanied with all time favorites Banana chips, Unniappam & Chakka upperi. The elaborate main course includes Avial, Oolan, Kootu Kari, and Parupu Kari with Lemon rice and Red rice. The mains were accompanied by freshly prepared Dessert that includes Pazham puri, Adda Payasam and Parippu Parathamam.
The rich culinary heritage of Kerala with an appetizing choice of delicacies will remind all the guests of childhood days like eating at friend's Kerala household.
