Mumbai 25th April: 125 senior tennis players from across India will participate in the inaugural Investec Elite Legends Championship, organised by SportX Elites to be held at the MCA Courts in BKC, Bandra on April 27, 28 2019. The tournament is sponsored by Investec and partnered by brands such as Solinco, Octo, Mc Donalds, Enerzal, Prince, S.K. Agency and Merci.
The Elite Legends Championship is an invitational championship honouring the past, present and future legends of Indian Tennis over the age of 50 and will be played in a round robin format with each match played in three 7 point tiebreaks. The participants will be divided into 8 groups and top 2 players with maximum points will qualify from each group. 125 veterans from 10 states and 25 cities including states like Kerala and Mizoram will be participating in the inaugural edition.
Veteran players like Ex National Champion Mayur Vasant and some of the top-ranked players of India in the 50 plus category like R. Nagraj, and Shrikant Parekh among numerous other national players will be participating in the tournament.
Elite Legends Championship is one of the richest tournaments organised for the 50+ category with approximately 2.5 lakhs on offer in Cash Prize and goodies. There will be 7 players choice awards at the end of the tournament and the winners will be awarded attractive goodies from sponsors.
In order to make the tournament more competitive and appealing to the players and audience alike, the Co-Founders of SportX Elites Nikhil Rao and Karan Singh have introduced a new set of rules which include, 1 point to be deducted from the servers point tally for each double fault. Each player will get 1 trump point per tie break and the winner of the trump point will be awarded 2 points.
The qualifiers will be played on 27th morning and the finals will be held on 28th evening. Ajay Lakotia is the tournament director while Nikhil Rao will be the official tournament referee.
