NEW YORK, 20 April 2019: Vikas ‘The Indian Tank’ Krishan continued to make a mark in his pro-boxing career pulling off a unanimous decision win against Noah Kidd of the United States at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York on Saturday night (Sunday morning IST). Krishan won the six-round welterweight bout (which was scored 60-54, 60-54 and 59-55) to go 2-0 in his pro career.
“The experience of fighting at Madison Square Garden was very good, I was happy and excited before the fight, but also a bit nervous at the same time,” Krishan said after the bout, which was on the undercard for the keenly anticipated WBO welterweight title clash, which saw Terrence Crawford retain his belt against the challenge from Amir Khan.
Despite the victory, Krishan said he still had a lot to learn about boxing in the pro circuit and focus on closing down bouts. “My coach said that I have the power to knock down the guys, but I need to work on a few crucial aspects which will take time because I’ve been fighting amateur all my life,” the 27-year old from Bhiwani added.
Krishan signed with legendary promoter Bob Arum’s Top Rank Promotions late last year and had an impressive debut to his professional career registering a Technical Knock Out win in the second round against Steven Andrade of the United States in January 2019.
Krishan, who has been supported by JSW Sports since 2014, has won medals at the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and the World Championships. The organisation has been assisting the boxer with travel and medical support in his efforts to turn professional.
