Manoj Kotak, MP North East Mumbai distributes safety protection screens to rickshaw drivers

Move aims to help rickshaw drivers maintain safety and hygiene standards.

Mumbai, 13th October 2020: As Mumbai city proceeds to follow unlock phase 5 guidelines, Manoj Kotak, MP North East Mumbai, helped the city’s rickshaw drivers by distributing Safety Protection Screens. The screens were distributed by Mr. Kotak and his team in Mumbai’s northeastern suburbs.
These screens will help create a partition between drivers and passengers and will ensure a decreased risk of the virus spreading.  Plexiglass protective screens have been adopted by several countries around the world as a measure to contain the spread of Covid-19 while resuming normal life. Over 50 percent of Mumbaikars use public transport for their daily commute and auto-rickshaws are an essential lifeline.
Speaking about the distribution drive, MP Manoj Kotak said, “Auto rickshaw drivers were among those who faced the worst brunt of the Covid-19 induced lockdown due to lack of business and customers preferring private vehicles to auto rickshaws. Hence, it is essential that we help these drivers to revive their livelihoods through measures like these. I am hopeful that these safety protections screens will aid them in their business.”
