Tinder LGBTQ+ Survey | 73% of LGBTQ+ adults believe online dating/dating apps have benefited their community in a positive way

Tinder, the world’s most popular app for meeting new people, with the most diverse user base, is committed to celebrating all users, regardless of how they identify or who they choose to Swipe Right on.
Since launching More Genders on the platform late last year, at Tinder we’ve learned a lot. Gender identity and sexuality is complex and personal. It’s more than a box you check, it’s who you are. Inclusivity, acceptance and individual choice are core values at Tinder, and we believe our users are best to choose for themselves.
There have been incredible strides in recognizing and embracing all gender identities and sexualities, but there is still a long way to go. Our users are our biggest advocates, and we are committed to consistently hearing from them to improve the Tinder experience.
Tinder surveyed LGBTQIA+ community members to understand India’s shifting cultural paradigm, their attitude towards dating and dating culture, how dating apps are empowering authentic identities and helping erode stigma.
Welcome to 2019. Tinder is here for it.
·         47% say they feel “happy” about identifying as LGBTQIA+, more than any other emotion
·         70% of Indians believe there is less stigma associated with the LGBTQIA+ community than there was 5 years ago
·         44% say online dating/dating apps make it easier for members of LGBTQIA+ community to be themselves/express themselves more freely
·         61% of Indians have identified as LGBTQIA+ on an online platform or closed group prior to formally coming out to friends/family
·         LGBTQIA+ are comfortable with PDA on a date when it comes to hugging (60%), holding hands (62%) or kissing (44%).
·         70% of LGBTQIA+ Adults Want Their Date to Be Involved in Issues the community faces
Attached with this mail is the full fact sheet on the survey with India specific data. I’d be happy to send along additional data from other markets if required (UK, France, Germany, Spain, Japan, US and Brazil). Do let us know your interest in the same so that we can take this conversation forward.
