India’s finest off road racer CS Santosh on the Wings for Life World Run initiative, said “My friend Daniel McCoy suffered spinal cord injuries. He’s coping well and is constantly working on getting better and I see that he still goes out and does all the things that he loves which is so positive for his mental perspectives and it says a lot about the resolve he has. I think the wing for life foundation is really important because what happened to him could happen to any of us and to be able to find a cure or method to fix spinal disabilities would be a Great Leap Forward in medical science.  I loved the experience of driving the catcher car at the run few years ago as I got to see and experience the whole race from the amateur runners to the pros going at it! It was also so great to see thousands of people on the main streets running together for a cause that needs all of us to pool together! I race motorcycles for a living and I know that there are many people from all walks of life that have disabilities due to unfortunate circumstances and I wish that With the help of this foundation that one day I could see folks like my friends McCoy and Suresh being able to fully function as human beings and regain what they lost.”
India’s best badminton doubles player Ashwini Ponnappa on Wings for Life World Run, said “The overall energy and vibe was fantastic. The run is nothing like any other marathon, with the finish line chasing you as opposed to you running towards it. The excitement of being a part of the unique race for a great cause was just incredible! The best part is 100% of the proceeds going towards spinal cord injury. My favourite part about being a part of the initiative is how people from across the globe compete together at the exactly same time no matter what time is in their part of the world. The day of the event is exciting and energy is amazing. It’s different from other events as the event itself is different. Apart from running to support spinal cord research, I would encourage people to register as it is a World run where they are competing with hundred thousand people from across the world at the same time and it doesn’t happen anywhere else. Also, it’s fun to have the finish line chase you.”
In 2018 with more than 370 participants running the app runs across 11 cities – Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi, Chandigarh, Guwahati, Goa, Ahmedabad, Pune, Bangalore and Chennai, India raised 6600 Euros (more than 5.28 lakhs) for the spinal cord injury cure research.
It’s a great way to share motivation and the spirit of the run. Run the Wings for Life World Run with the Organized App Run in Hyderabad on May 5th by registering your-self at https://www.wingsforlifeworldrun.com/in/en/app-run-mumbai and make a difference by donating directly into spinal cord research project.
