A unique innovation challenge aimed at “Finding solutions for tomorrow, today”, launched by JK Lakshmipat University, which saw a nation-wide participation of 9323 students from over 113 schools, concluded this month with the announcement of winners by an eminent jury consisting of top leaders from industry and education and media. The students offered innovative solutions, based on currently available resources, towards achieving any of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations.
The top two prizes were won by Riya Kataria of The Shri Ram School, Moulsari, Gurgaon and Ravinder Bishnoi of Kendriya Vidyalaya, AFS, Jaisalmer for their innovations on saving crops using sound technology and purification of air, respectively. Maharani Gayatri Devi Girls’ School, Jaipur won the Innovative Campus award. Many of the participants and schools benefitted from innovation and design thinking workshops conducted by JKLU over the last year.
“The idea of challenging young brains to come up with a solution for problems surrounding us, and motivating them to be innovative and unique serves a great purpose in education. JKLU Innovation Challenge is a wonderful way to ignite young minds.”  said Dr Toolika Gupta, Jury member, and Director, Indian Institute of Crafts & design, Jaipur.
Another Jury member Dr. Dheeraj Sanghi, Director, Punjab Engineering College and former Director of LNMIT Jaipur said, “I am happy to see that a large number of students even at the school level are looking at problems around them and coming up with innovative solutions to those problems.”
The JKLU Innovation Challenge harnesses the tremendous capacity of youth towards solving some of the most important problems in the world. Schools can connect with Organising team at JIC@jklu.edu.in for the 2019 edition.
