Mumbai 29th September: Aalisha Naik, who is the top seed in the U-15 and U-17 categories is eyeing a dual-title as she stormed into the respective finals at the ongoing Gautam Thakkar Sub Junior Badminton Championship supported by Shyam Bhatia Cricket for Care foundation, promoted by Badminton Gurukul and hosted by Bombay Gymkhana at their state of the art badminton courts on Sunday.
Aalisha started her semi-final campaign with a U-15 tie against Alisha Khan. Naik made short work of her unseeded opponent defeating her 21-10, 21-9 in straight games to advance to the finals. Alisha was back on the court within a couple of hours to face Nidhi Chauhan in the U-17 tie. Nidhi put up some resistance but failed to provide any real challenge as Alisha ran through her securing a 21-13, 21-12 victory and take a shot at securing dual titles in the finals.
In the Boy’s U-17 category, Top seed Siddharth Bhuta faced no problems as he raced to a commanding 21-7, 21-7 victory to advance to the finals. Earlier in the day, Rohit Sundaram played brilliantly to upset 2nd seed Pranav Kamble 30-25 but succumbed to Malhar Joshi who edge past Rohit with a 21-12, 21-19 victory to advance to the finals.
The pair of Saransh Gajbhiye and Harsh Sharma outclassed Harshil Doshi and Salaj Meghraj 21-9, 21-12 to win the Boys under-15 doubles title. Both Saransh and Harsh were having their best outings on the court as they also won their respective singles semi-final games and will clash each other in the finals of Boys under-15 singles.
