Vigilance Awareness Week 2019 kickstarts at Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL)


“Integrity is a matter of personal choice” – former DGP, Shri D. Sivanandan

Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), BPCL, Shri Sunil Jain and Former Director General of Police, Maharashtra, Shri D. Sivanandan jointly inaugurated the Vigilance Awareness Week 2019 by lighting the traditional lamp and taking the Integrity Pledge along with all staff members present, at Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) Corporate office on 30th October 2019.  
In his keynote address, former DGP, Shri D. Sivanandan, stated that ‘Integrity’ is a matter of personal choice and that the first lessons on integrity are learnt by children at home when parents demonstrate integrity by ‘walking the talk’. He stressed that three ways to reduce corruption within the organizations are: simplification of rules and procedures, transparency and empowerment of public and effective punishment of the offenders. 
CVO Shri Sunil Jain, in his inaugural address, spoke about the purpose of observing the Vigilance awareness week as a part of preventive and participative vigilance. He emphasized on individual commitment from each and every citizen to adopt ‘Integrity as a way of life’. He urged that all of us need to commit ourselves by being fair, just & transparent in all our public interactions. 
Director (HR), Shri K. Padmakar; Director (Marketing), Shri Arun Singh; and Chief General Manager (Vigilance), Smt. Rajeswari P were other dignitaries of BPCL present on the occasion.
